Configuring without machine actually being done....?
So this will be my second post on this forum and it may sound like a dumb one... I literally just got through getting my sd card to flash and verify properly. I did make it work the other evening but skipped the verification process which I later found out was a no no. That evening after getting the sd card in the pi and setting up the wifi I decided to connect my octopus pro 446 board. After some struggles I did get it to connect (had to jumper bootloader mode pins) and use DFU. I did get the octopus flashed however it kept coming up with a version mismatch between the pi and the octopus board. I went ahead and hit next anyways....I then went to the main user interface (klipper? mainsail?) and selected my printer and options. Now I should probably also mention that the octopus board is in no way connected to the actual printer.... just octopus-> pi, no steppers , no thermisters, etc. I am as expected getting (klippy?) errors stating bed temp and hot end temp values not in range, again I would expect that. Can anyone verify that what ive done so far appears correct? I realize that when I leave work today I will have to go through the entire process again due to me reflashing the sd card at work using pi imager. Should I get the rest of the equipment connected ie steppers, thermister, etc etc connected before doing machine updates? As I have read it appears to do RatOs updates first. Can I do this without the rest of the pronter connected? Thanks again guys I appreciate all the help
Chris

in general, if you are getting an error you shouldn't just ignore it and move on. The specific issue of the version being wrong I believe was fixed, so you would want to get the latest update https://os.ratrig.com/docs/installation#updating
Hello ChrisB, I have a similar problem. I have a number of Octopus boards with the 446 chip, but they are not PRO boards. I selected the Octopus pro 446 board and get the following error:
Here is the error
Warning: Version mismatch
The board is running version v0.12.0-268-g0844388d but you your pi is on version v0.12.0-268-g0844388d7. If you want to update your board click 'flash again' below.
as I mentioned above, you need to update as this bug was already fixed
Woodwaker, yes it is like blacksmith said.... once you get into mainsail go to the machine tab and at the bottom right there is an update manager. Update the "ratos" first. Then update the rest. That appeared to have solved my issue. I finally received my jst connectors and pins so I can connect the thermisters to the board to get out of temperature errors.....
