Weird Artifacts
Hello,
I am having these weird artifacts and I can’t figure out what they are . I figured they were VFA’s, but I can’t rid of them. I’ve checked and am sure the belt is riding nice on the idlers. It’s pla. Any ideas??

It also seems to be dependent on the print file sometimes?
I'm starting to wonder if having the teeth of the hybrid belts riding on a smooth pulley (bearings) might be doing this. I see it in some of my prints
Oh yeah you could be right. But where does it ride on the teeth?
The top front idler /adjuster. unless I'm dumb and have it backwards
My understanding is that it should be the smooth side of the belt on the idler
then the gear will be running on the smooth side of the belt. How does that work?
It doesn’t, I tried
I ended up changing to the heavy duty idlers and larger stepper pullers and it helped a ton
The pattern can also be caused by an unaligned X gantry. You can easily check that if you move the x gantry to the front of the printer and check if the left and right xy-joiners have the same distance to the frame. If not, a normal y move causes the gantry to lock and cause this kind of pattern on the print.
Oh really? I didn’t know that. How does the issue persist to the x axis too then? Are the belts just binding at that point or something?
Im not really sure, but what I saw was heavy „ringing“ like a pattern on Y and slight layershifts on X.
