World generation in general is quite slow, if you want to speed it up:
Install Noisium and Faster Random, these mods can improve generation speed by a couple percent.
Make sure to remove the C2ME mod as it significantly slows down DH chunk generation by up to 35%.
Increase
CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)
Distant Generation doesn't work in multiplayer, meaning DH won't be able to generate LODs for chunks outside the vanilla render distance.
Instead, as you travel around the world, LODs will be generated for areas you've visited.
In the next update, DH 2.3, you will be able to add DH to your server granted it's running a compatible mod/plugin loader (Fabric, (Neo)Forge, Bukkit and their derivatives). This will allow the server to generate LODs and send them to the client, making distant generation possible on multiplayer.

its aswell happening with mods
it literally renders some different chunks
Is DH trying to generate LODs with default Vanilla terrain gen instead of the custom terrain generator? How's that even possible..?
seems like yeah
the map is created or built by something called WorldPainter
it happens with dh alone aswell
or without any world gen/structure mods
so far
it crashes when i try to optimize this map

i just wanted to do it automatically because uh i realised that map is slightly big
its like literally 10000x10000 blocks
i tried to use world edit and make giantic platform so it would trigger to make lods
but uh
it would take a lot of time and my lods would be facked up if i leave the world because there will be that platform in lods but it doesnt exist in reality
what if it would work on 1.17 and then i can take these lods out to the same map on 1.21

Chunky makes regular chunks, so they are stored where regular chunks are also saves
That is why chunky won't do anything on a map

dh somehow can generate lods by itself with only "pre exisiting chunks" generator option
which is a key

all the lods disappeared when i removed chunky from mod folder

Chunky doesn't do anything unless you run the /chunky command
i dont even have to have enabled distant generation ON
when chunky is running like its pregenerating
its already generating lods with distant gen off
while chunky is running
I don't know what's going on here anymore, but I'm glad it's working
512 chunks (8192 blocks) may take a while
