printer.cfg changes lost on power cycle

When I turn the machine off and back on again the printer.cfg and RatOS.cfg revert back to original files without the updates. I can save/restart and the changes are there. (Mostly has to do with the fans (remove the "!") and my IS settings. How do I force the saves to be permanent?

You need to regular shut down the machine and then cut off. That stores all the things you changed in your configuration. Do not just pull the plug, or switch ist off. That can damage the complete installation and RatOS would not boot up.

Top right corner and click shutdown host. Wait 20-30 seconds then turn off the power.

Doesn't seem to work. I had to re-enter the fan info again. The RatOS seemed to work. It still had the shaper mods. So just printer.cfg is misbehaving. 😕

So that means that you did not store the printer.cfg. Store and then shut it sown.

Had it backwards. RatOS.cfg is not saving through power cycles. The changes take if it is just a restart. But I have to change the fans every time it is a power cycle. It reports that it successfully saved when I hit the save button. It also reports saved if I hit save and restart.

you do not want to make any changes in Ratos.cfg. It is automatically generated on every reboot what are you trying to change in there? all custom settings need to be in the user defined area of printer.cfg

RatOS.cfg is regenerated by the configurator. You're not supposed to edit that. Read the top of the file. If you have to change the fans, you misconfigured them in the configurator. Unless you're doing something exotic?

I'll try running back through the configurator. Though that was correct, but maybe not. Found it. Was "Digital" PWM on those fans when it should not have been. Thanks for clearing that up!
