What kind of expectations did you have for your 2024 summer? How did it turn out? Any interesting insights, cops or regrets?

shit was too hot
I have a pair of shorts that worked very well but because they are made of plastic, they unnerve me.
I have a pair of 100% cotton pods that were frankly too wide (sacre bleu) and have some manufacturing defects (two stitching gaps large enough for me to fit a pinkie through), but were, ultimately, sufficient for some of the time.
I would ideally like a slim-skinny pair of cotton shorts to replace the pods, and I will presumably sell them later this year, despite feeling bad about it.
I may also part with the skinny shorts because I find them too weird and their pocket orientation unideal (one pocket in the middle on either side).
Camp collars… very good
Linen… very good
That’s all I learned this summer
I don't think I wore my sandals a single time. Oops.
Band tee shorts chacos
I regressed to hard i have whiplash
Its so hot and i hate it and i have no reason to get dressed
Expected this summer to be big on camp collars / shorts but ended not being into either of it. Instead I got into big fking pants instead. But I think summer was good bc I spent a lot of time consuming outfits and refining my wardrobe in general
Next summer I want to do more stuff with tanktops but it's nice to feel like I'm where I want to be with my pants. Will prob explore pants again with pleatz/jorts but I can't say for sure rn
ok real answer - this summer i moved to the city and also got a job with a more formal dress code + a bit of a windfall led me to pretty much completely redoing my wardrobe, am wayyy happier with how i dress currently and i feel like it matches me a lot better
I just suffered when I wanted to wear something weird and it was too hot
i still have a bit of a "two wolves inside of you" conflict going on but i think it's a healthy scrap
Genuine shocked by how comfortable linen trousers are
I wore soooo much white/offwhite
Just too easy
I’m not gonna start saying ecru I refuse
This reminds me I still haven't copped stussy yet
I feel that a lot. Still can't decide what im really going for
resigned myself to wearing gym shorts and tees every day rather than suffering through sweaty outfits, happier for it
adam sandler
adam sandler could never rock with my 5in inseam
I didn't put that shit on all summer it sucked
same
Really my first sommer being relatively actively into fashion. Really failed at generating visual interest without additional layers. Propably need to revisit that problem next summer. I think the issue is that I have to few dedicated summer clothes and just tried to get away with my general purpose stuff
I need shorts that look cool
i was going to prepare something else but i wanted to take the summer to try and be chill following fit battle and a large amount of wardrobe upheaval...that didn't happen but there was definite learning that occurred
Rat boy summer was great for me I looked like tasteful shit the whole time
summer gave me some much-needed funds to continue my wardrobe revamp. i still have a few odd shirts i’m working on clearing from the closet and then i have to go through my wardrobe proper again
slowly but surely i’m getting there
compared to my summer inspo i think i was successful - lots of loose shirts, tank tops, shorts and tailoring - i do think it's not a coincidence that my "best" looks were westernwear adjacent and we'll see how that pans out https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1237796156126265496/1237800535990603877 https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1237796156126265496/1237802911522885684
I meant to visit Montreal but I forgor
Felt like a little bit of a mixed bag for me. I really liked my linen pants/shirt, but I was looking forward to trying the camp collars and tanks, and they just didn't work for me.
I got my first pair of 100% linen trousers and they rocked, I need more.
Also got looser white pants that I wore a lot.
Nonetheless, I reverted to linen shorts on the hottest days. Can't beat them.
Tops remain a struggle. I have a few linen T-shirts but they tend to lose their shape. Linen camp collars are great because they're loose but I don't like how they feel when I get sweaty
Btw I have no idea how people do outerwear in the summer. The whole idea of wearing a jungle jacket puts me off. I have a linen sportcoat that I've worn sometimes but I usually take it off when I'm walking outdoors. I think I'm going to sell my linen chore coat because I rarely wear it.
Didn't realise we are all from the northern hemisphere now
I bought a bunch of stuff that I've decided I'm not actually that into, but I understand my style and what I'm looking for better now so yay
Winter has been great for trying new fits, so many cool jackets that it will be too hot to wear soon
I didn’t and I’d like to forget it
I think I did well this summer. I wanted different variations of cuts and sizes for shirts and pants for expression partly because a friend of mine has a ton of fits, she does everything lol. So I ended up expanding a lot. (even to buying some women's clothes) Honestly I just need more shirts tbh
Every summer I realize I'm getting better at dressing because I have to work with the heat and still manage to have drip
I wear jeans year round because I can dammit
I don’t think I wore shorts anywhere other than the pool this summer
