help! wedding in 12 hours, need a summer suit fast
i’m going to a wedding in 12 hours in the London & usually I can get away with just wearing a normal suit all year around b/c it doesn’t get hot enough in the UK but it’s a heatwave & 32 celsius (90 F) today. the wedding is in an old building so no AC. i’d like to buy a summer suit asap, any advice for what to look for etc. places to shop are less needed but welcome!

idk man you have 12 hours lmfao. go to the mall and buy a cheap black suit and tie at like j crew or something and hope it fits off the rack
keep the tags and return it tomorrow
or just suffer through the heat in the suit you have because luckily, in 24 hours this will all be a memory
I’d just wear what I have
was planning to hit up a suitsupply and hope for the best - would rather buy something, wear it off the rack & then get it altered afterwards to fit perfectly - thoughts on this strategy?
I think this is a bad strategy
anytime you're buying something out of urgency there's a good chance it's not going to be exactly what you want
this is my current best option as i like the suits i own & they are tailored, the idea of sweating bullets all day seems terrible so wanted to search for an alternative to improve upon my current plan
I’d rather sweat for a bit than spend $800 in a rush that isn’t going to fit great and isn’t what I want
very fair - will stick to my current suit
this is a great point - i had suitsupply stuff fit basically perfectly off the rack in the past hence going back there but you are right. lesson learned & will look for a summer suit for future use
ty for talking me out of a dumb decision!
How'd this play out for you? I would have suggested Uniqlo, Zara, H&M, or Quince for a lightweight suit off the rack that wouldn't cost much.
I wonder if the better play would be to pickup a lightweight shirt in this case. Every summer wedding I've been to people end up taking their jackets off anyway. Deal with photos/ceremony then you are ok. One time I even brought a cooler for drinks but stuffed one of the ice packs into my chest pocket for the ceremony honestly worked out better than I thought.
