Had a little mishap when I took the sock off my hot end and the head of broken screw from my Rapido feel onto the top of my beacon board. It caused my machine to try to reboot and I got the above message....and no reboot.
So now I have two problems.
1. Getting my printer to reboot
2. Ascertaining if the Beacon has been damaged.
Not sure if you figured this out or not..... it could have shorted out the USB bus and the Pi cannot talk to the MCU. Have you tried unplugging all USB devices except the MCU to start with? I had a similar issue when I had a screw crush the usb cable to one of my cameras and the symptom at first was that klipper could not talk to the MCU but it was due to the USB cable on the camera causing the USB bus to not work.
I only have two USB devices plugged into my Pi' a Beacon and the MCU. Even with the Beacon unplugged, the Pi cannot see the MCU.
You may have cooked the usb bus of the Pi or the MCU. I would keep the beacon unplugged and try another Pi if you have one extra you can use.
Not sure whether it even theoretically could help, but you could also try another, unused usb port on the pi, just as a test.
I have ordered a replacement ECU.
