Unsure about the correct lenghth of bootcut jeans.
These bootcut pants have just arrived. While I like them in general i am a little bit unsure about the fit. Its a lot slimmer than what im used to, so im not sure whether they fit or not. Its sateen fabric - will that stretch a lil bit with wear similar to how denim does or should i return them and size up? I think the folds in the crotch area are exaggerated by the lighting...
My main question though is, if I should shorten the hems bc there is a bit of stacking going on, which im not quite used to, but on the other hand maybe bootcuts are supposed to be a bit on the longer side?

I think this is more representative.
From what I understand stacking in a properly starched bootcut jean is desirable in cowboy culture. I’m not sure about these more dressy pants however, I’d err on the side of getting them hemmed as well. For the top block it all comes down to how comfy you are. Seems okay to me, but a size larger would likely be cool too!
Im slowly erring toward keeping them in terms of width, because they are loosenig a bit up with wear.
Just wore them for like 20min and they were already a bit less tight. Waist is actually pretty perfect, snug without being tight
I'd consider hemming them a touch but that's just me. I'd mess with folding the hem up and seeing how they lay. It might not really be worth it though depending on how much
Okay, further update: The fit seems to get considerable better after wearing it a bit and especially after sitting down, because now the fabric bunches up slightly at the knees and I have only a moderate break at the shoe. I therefore think that hemming would be detrimental, bc if fabric gets stuck at the knees it would be too short
very interesting experience wearing slim pants
but I like it with the slight flare
feels like there is a point in terms of silhouette
Also lots of options for billowy shirt + slim pants
hmm
maybe i should get one of those billowy tencel westerners from Whyte
anyway, thanks for the feedback!
