Self improvement suggestions for self-image

I'm a 16 year old sophmore in high school. I recently started caring more about my physical appearence. I started using cologne, CeraVe acne cleanser, hair gel, and burt's bees lip balm. I'm also trying to mew, since I have an underbite and also so I can get a more well defined jawline. I'm trying to work out consistently, since I want to get abs (I'm 6'2 without shoes and 125 lbs).

Can You Actually Change Your Face Shape With Mewing? Not Quite
Mewing is a facial restructuring practice that supposedly changes your jaw shape, but there's no evidence to suggest it does. Learn more.

Although Mew's theory does generate some plausible conclusions that can aid our profession in developing future surgical procedures, the public needs to be made aware that it is not based on sound scientific evidence that would make it a viable alternative treatment to orthognathic surgery. Social media is a powerful tool for informing the public in many subject areas, including Mewing, but it is not regulated by experts; unfortunately, many members of the public quickly fall prey to theories that have not been scientifically tested. Therefore, it is of vital importance that we educate our patients on the validated treatments for malocclusion and the danger of seeking non–peer-reviewed internet sources for health information in general.
Doesn't work. Better to do stuff which positively changes you with general fitness and other self improvements to boost your confidence

If you have a mild underbite, maybe orthodontics can correct it. But talk to a professional, not some dude on the Internet

Be careful working out too hard at your age (at least if you're living heavy stuff). Also, diet is a big factor in having abs. Lastly things like your face shape will also change as you get older. Will echo the others and say please don't mew.

creatine has nothing to do with face shape wtf face shape is largely dependent on genetical factors during development One tip I can provide is to get your teeth perfect (check with a dentist). Good teeth makes for a better face

ok I will not mew well I have an underbite but ig its not that obvious yeah, unfortunately I had an expander which didn't work and severely comprimised by articulation. My only option is jaw surgery to correct the underbite

I mewed as a kid and all it did was made me need orthodontics since, without the pressure from my tongue, my lower teeth went inwards. not good!
xX_SussyMinecraftMaster69_Xx
I've seen guys who are shorter than me and weigh more get abs, for example there's this freshman in school who is around 5'10 and 130 pounds, whereas I'm 6'2 and 125. I feel like genetics definitely plays a huge role. What kind of diet would be good for abs? Should I lose weight? Also, I've never eaten MacDonalds, Taco Bell, or Chick Fil-A in my life, so junk food consumption is not my problem.

I have a friend who has jaw surgery, and it definitely changed the look of his jaw and face. It's a big deal, but warranted in some cases, such as if it causes problems with sleeping and breathing.
xX_SussyMinecraftMaster69_Xx
oof I really need my lower teeth to go inward

you can kind of correct your bite with braces if you also need braces, just speak to your ortho
jfarrell468
jfarrell4682mo ago
But, again, that's something for a professional to help you with, not random dudes on the Internet

You're 16, and people your age aren't all going to develop in the same places at the same rate. With that being said, you're probably pretty slim at that height/weight so start doing some crunches and core exercises if you really want abs.

lynn/lyon2mo ago
literally for anything about moving your teeth talk to an orthodontist

But honestly, you're 16. Like, I was also 130 pounds at 16. I almost hit 200 this year. This is not your final form. And abs are overrated.

yeah I'm gonna get invisalign over the summer bottom teeth are a mess but upper teeth are perfect

braces and invisalign are different, too invisalign can’t do massive overhauls like braces can

Hormones and aging will absolutely make an impact on your face shape but truly that shit doesn't matter, I have a gargantuan skull and a tiny little milhouse face and I make it work Best way to improve your self-image is start finding things you like about it. Don't focus on the things that you don't.

Yeah, my #1 self improvement tip is "be nice to yourself" And my #2 is "stick to the basics". Pay attention in school. Get some exercise. Eat a decent diet. Take care of yourself.

Diet is not a big factor in having abs when you're 6'2" and 125 go to r/gainit or something for advice on gaining weight and muscle, try super squats or something idk it's targeted at really skinny teenagers. Self acceptance is cool and all but intentionally changing your body (thru skincare, diet, exercise) is very empowering imo. Everyone is talking about diet and exercise but for you remember that diet means eating significantly more than you are right now, and exercise won't help very much (in terms of growth) if you're not in a calorie surplus. I was 130 and skinny at 5'7", my waist is still snatched at like 150 and the rest of me is a little bigger, you have a lot of room to grow (if you're like I was you enjoy how skinny you are and are worried about gaining weight so I'm here to tell you that you can gain 30-40 pounds and still be skinny)
