Repeating Outfits - Topic of the day 3/29/24
Are you someone who likes to repeat an outfit? Would you rather be caught dead than be seen wearing an outfit combination you've already worn in the past? Do you even think about it that deeply? Discuss

Everyone repeats outfits
Not repeating means you're too deep in the influencer sauce
People just don't post repeats, plus fashion influencers are constantly getting new shit, you arent that, gotta play the hits
I'm a serial outfit repeater. Who doesn't love the hits?
I repeat a lot. Sometimes even when I'm not repeating it looks like I am because I wear a lot of basics. When traveling, I typically pack really light so everything gets repeated multiple times
I cared a lot more about not repeating when I was younger but now I'm like, if it works it works
I also repeat a lot, which is why I haven't posted too many outfits in #waywt recently. Been just going back to the uniforms rather than experimenting. It's nice to have a solid amount of go-tos and not have to spend every night deeply theorizing what I'm wearing the next day
I’ll wear the same things twice in a row if i only got to wear the fit for a few hours after work and feel like it has legs
Nobody but you cares what you’re wearing, if what you have on makes you feel good put that shit back on
I post repeats all the time because most of my fits are like All my Children: years and years of reinterpreting the same 5 episode premises
the only thing worse than an outfit repeater is an outfit rememberer
that said i enjoy a limited number of motifs in my clothing so repeats are a way of life; because i like what i wear and am clean it's not an issue
also i would be granular enough to say any visible and noticeable change to a fit makes it different (change in shoe, belt, hat, etc.)
If a fit works, why wouldn't you wear it lots of times?
I wear my clothes once then burn them on the altar in sacrifice to Klotho the goddess of cloth

On Outfit Repeating
Even with the same suit and tie, I don’t consider this a repeat. But maybe you think otherwise?
all my thougths on this here but ill summarize
- i dont repeat outfits but its because i haven't had a chance to! I just love making new combinations of things i have and since most of my stuff revolves around ties, shirts, i often "repeat" certain items but then change up something for a new look. Example would be above where its the same suit and tie, but one with a pinned point collar vs a solid yellow ocbd
- this phenomenon is easier to do with classic menswear with ties
- i definitely think i have a repeatable motif/soft uniform where a lot of the vibe is the same but details (like tie, shirt collar, shhoe choice) is different. For example, i think most of my senior cord outfits are "the same" but also different when we look into the specific pieces.
- i think its fine to "not repeat" as llong as as its a positive experience and one that challenges/encourages you to give your existing wardrobe some love
- ive also found that i've been going through the hits lately and getting inspried by my old fits. and sometimes when i dont repeat exactly its becaue i no longer own the item/physically outgrown it.
- most my approach is becasue im always intrigued by the next idea which comes insntantaneoously. So its not that i dont think something isn't good enough to repeat, its that my next idea is also exciting and i wanna wear it!
- similar to writing music. i dont just sit in my room and listen to the same piece ive written over and over, i often get ideas for new things!
also im waiting for people to start pointing out when i do repeat (or soft repeat) but no one pays attention to me that much lol
I repeat quite a bit although since I started taking photos and posting here I try to look back at the last time I wore the outfit and try to tweak it a bit more towards my liking. The exception is when I default to my “uniform” due to reasons.
refinement often leads to changing things, which to me makes it more than a "repeat"!
how much of changing a fit would be considered not repeating
or how much of a fit would be considered repeating
I only go out in a fit like... Once a week bc wfh. So I may repeat outfits I really like but similar to TTG, I'm always trying new combos.
Otherwise arguably I repeat the hell out of my sweatpants athleisurewear
i repeat outfits all the time. the only time i actively worry about it is when i wear the same t-shirt within two days of the last time i wore it
I repeat outfits a lot. There are clothes that I buy and like, and clothes that I buy and lose interest in three weeks later. Examples of clothes I like and wear often:
Blue flatcap: every single day (it's warm).
Green swanndri shirt: twice a week or so. It is my favorite shirt.
White t-shirt: every day. Either as my main t-shirt or under a shirt.
Oxblood boots: my only pair of town boots and my favorite peice of footwear. 4-5 times a week. (I try to remember to rotate but...)
Navy rain jacket: every day. It's windproof and with a liner keeps me warm. Basically prevents me from being miserable as soon as I leave the house.
...so given the above I repeat fits a lot. I don't have a large wardrobe. I have even less things that I love.
I don't repeat shit
If I wear two identical outfits but the pants are cuffed in one and uncuffed in the other then it's two different outfits
How much clothes do you have?
Me, wearing the same fit but with a different tee and socks
Ne wearing the same fits but with a different pair of black socks.
