Experiment Gone Wrong! - Topic of the day 3/15/24
Was there a time you experimented with a piece or outfit and decided it wasn't for you or didn't work at all? Did you try again or did it confirm that it wasn't for you?

Techwear, oof. Merino t-shirts, outlier trousers, polartec neoshell rain coat, goretex shoes. Looked like a turd wrapped in trash bags. Many make it work, but not for me.
Same, bought in hard to the “minimalist merino T shirt two pairs of the same pants one bag digital nomad” philosophy ~2016-2019. I never had to think about what to wear but I never felt very happy with what I was wearing.
At this point, I'm still getting into clothes, so I feel like I'm experimenting with most of my purchases. One thing that sticks out to me, though, were some Doc Martin 1460 monos that I just didn't feel right in and ended up selling last year.
Fell for the old workwear cargos and detroit jacket trend at the beginning of the pandemic
Turns out it doesn't look good on a person who's built like a stick
For me it was skinny pants back in 2014. Tried one on from naked and famous and was immediately like nope.
I think for techwear I just already felt it wasn't for me so just never went into it. Though the merino t-shirts were tempting.
Also tried to go into a more goth, all black clothes with more drape but also realized I didn't get the satisfaction I did from my other clothes so just sold them.
Vest
real ones already know
I bricked this double denim attempt so hard I archived it on my instagram
But I’m wearing double denim today for theme waywt and it’s executed much better (imo)
I have also never been able to make denim jackets work for me.
Chore coats for me, tried many on and each time it just didn't feel right
Anything recommended with the promise of "you just need to get used to it"
Skinny jeans. Im too tall and too skinny, and mostly made of legs. Looked like a fucking alien
Balmain sneakers and SLP skinny jeans lmfao

Day 7 9/21
Truly ashamed of almost every fit I’ve ever done with tapered pants and cap to service boots, but here is a major 🧱
warning, pre-mfa ⚠️
i think i read ethan's essay on schoolboy style and figured i'd do my take in it and yeah that's a miss
also liner jackets...i still can't and bow at the people who can (isaac, circ)
RIP to my brief dangly earring era. Kpop is a helluva drug
I like this fwiw
Maybe a bigger short
where did u take this picture
you're very kind 🙂 it suffers from what a lot of my fits suffered from during covid times where it was a decent idea but without enough detail/good enough items to make it hit
the laundry room in my apartment; unsurprisingly picture quality has improved since then
a lot of whats currently 'on-trend' falls into this category for me
Accessories were a mistake
(2019)
disagree, this fucks
Aha ur sweet. It feels harder to dress more feminine as I get older! :/ but glad to hear I wasn’t so off base I guess
Holy shit lmao
Is that a mollino too
bauhaus
that pic is probably the last time I wore it, been chillin since
So so hard
Is that suede
blistered lamb
worn with my donkey leather guidis of course
very of the era
Sheesh
Big big fan of this experiment
it had its time in my life, and I at least have things from the era I do still rock
Blackmeans pouch always cool
I'm really racking my brain here. I feel like I have one "look" reasonably dialed in (jeans, OCBD, blazer, more or less), but I think most of what I do is still an experiment. I get an idea, throw something on. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I know I've posted some bad fits (also a few good ones), but...fuck it.
I guess what I'm trying to say is: EVERY EXPERIMENT IS A SUCCESS. You tried something, you learned. That's a good outcome.
nyou looked swagged up
i rep bm still fuck it
i need to get the clout pouch out
omg
i have some rare ones and I struggle to insert them into the fits 😭
just put them on! omg
they're so pleasing to look at and the chunky zipper and all
i have a similar one to the pic u posted
id love a more fun one but i dont wanna cough it up
the fact there was no supreme cloutpouch is so fucked up
i have that one, and some monotone ones in grey and black
they dropped the ball
I got the belt, wanted it for a long ass time
nice
wtf ! both of those should be easy to style hahaha
monotone theme...
Gimme the blacked out pouch
i do with my bags (my other passion)
over my dead body
Never
;_;
i think it was a haze kanazawa collab in 2017? :ThinkingFren2:
It's so sexy
uh...this lol https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1142196512034668594/1218379727199408228
i don't hate it but i pictured it being lighterweight and more kinetic, similar to a bishop fit; the weight of the coat made it harder for me to convey that in still or video
you always put quotes around on-trend like its not a real thing that people care about
I put quotes because it's not a static thing and is constantly changing. 'Currently' should've been included in the quotes. Basically what I meant is whatever is on trend at any given time feels like a bad experiment for me when I try it out
Trends are obviously real and I'm not trying to downplay the fact that they exist by any means
My b if it came across that way
that makes more sense, thanks for clarifying
