Recent Purchases - Topic of the day 3/7/24
If you made a purchase over the past few weeks or months, how do you feel about that purchase now? Did you end up flipping it, end up liking it more than expected, or something else?

I got my lemaire military pants
I really love em
They are more orange than i anticipated which has made them slightly less versatile than i would have hoped but im sure ill get past it
I have other things on the way but tbd on those
ebay and this discord has been disastrous for my clothes spending. I've been terrible at taking pics of stuff but I've recently bought
- Black cowboy boots (arriving soon)
- Cooked LL Bean cardigan I'm going to patch (arriving soon)
- PRL Andrews chinos
- BB x C&J opera pumps
- Alden cigar tassel loafers (probably going to sell, they don't fit 😠)
- Aran sweater
Also recently copped a fly fishing vest, J Crew chambray shirt, and a MTM flannel DB
#recent-purchases is one of my favorite channels tho. So interesting to see all of the different stuff folks cop esp when I'm familiar with their style
No regrets
Waiting on my latest purchase still, but I've been really happy with the majority of my recent purchases
Boy have I been coppin
Feel like I have a good sense of my style now and I'm much better at adding things I actually wear to it, plus I copped probably my favorite piece I've ever owned about a month ago.
Got some New Balances and they were exactly what I was looking for. Fit great and go well with my wardrobe, what more can you ask for
These sweaters, really like them both. Unfortunately, they’re a couple of the more expensive things I’ve bought. https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1135916565183856660/1214694342493478985
Smiles, are you talking about the Caldwell slacks? Because those look incredible.
I've gotten quite a few pieces from vintage shops and hand-me-downs lately.
The lilac turtleneck was from my mother and the dark grey cable knit is a Land's End one from my dad.
I was clearing stock in my wardrobe and going to vintage stores to trade for credit. Those amounts led me to coppin the blue cardigan and yellow button-up seen here.
I still have the three items following my fits still in shipping hell (Air Maxes and pink L.E.J shirt in a FJ proxy, Wythe pants at my PO Box).
The purple L.L. Bean shirt seen in fit 3 was my best purchase of the year so far, love the colour, texture, and how well I can use it with so many fits in my wardrobe. Very very me
last couple purchases were these hobo shorts and orslow wool french work pants. one for spring/summer, and the other for fall/winter. very happy with both, will definitely integrate into the rest of my wardrobe easily. gonna rock 'em both for a while. now i'll be on the hunt for some w i d e lightwash denim and some other shorts i can experiment with
Almost all my purchases have been great successes, but to scratch an intrusive thought in my brain, I bought these enormous f/ce pants. The cut is challenging to my millenial brain, and I think I found the limits to my taste for wide pants.
I bought a wool shirt I'd stalked for months, watching it go from $400 to $150
I am patient and stuck to my target price before buying
Cropped hoodie, tee and tanktop from Abercrombie coming Friday to round out my wardrobe since I cut out so much since being here
But in the last few months just a fuxkton of new stuff
Feels like a new wardrobe
i got a pair of these bad boys and holy shit i love them. they don’t fit the best but i was low on options. i just need to figure out how to get five months of rust stains out of them…
Acadia 8" Black
Your work leads you into unstable situations. All the more reason to put classic Danner stitchdown construction under your feet. There's nothing more rock-solid. Women's sizes available.
I may have spent too much recently, but I'm happy with them all. Be it not knowing how to wear the fever ray shirt just yet. Three full price, three on sale. Yes I count cycling kit as clothing purchases.
lots of recent purchases for me, and really no duds that I can think of. Rancourt pinch penny loafers. 3 pairs of travel/hiking pants from Orvis. 3 ties from Goodwill. 2 herringbone blazers (brown and blue). Prince of wales plaid blazer. Corduroy blazer. Uni stripe OCBDs in blue, pink, and green.
i also forgot to mention this harris tweed beams jacket i found at a vintage shop in Seoul. i actually didn't realize it was beams until i looked online for other harris tweed patchwork jackets because there's no tags on it. very happy that i was able to snag it for ~$200.
Those Yuks and rugby shirt are so so so good
Dude these are dope
I have been making a big effort to try and get into more "avant garde" footwear the last couple months.
Got some Guidi Pl1 front zips and The Last Conspiracy skjold back zips
Ive learned that while capital F fashion boots may seem intimidating they are a lot easier to style than I thought they would be.
This has sent me down a large rabbit hole though as I try to expand my clothing options a lot. I am craving more and more exploratory shapes/cuts to try and compliment the more "out there" footwear I am picking up
Overall I dont regret these pickups and I think they will push me towards more exploration in the future which I like a lot. I know to some folks they seem kinda plain and boring but they are a big step for me outside the loafers and standard boots ive been wearing nonstop for like 4-5 years :xd:
Only thing I bought super recent was an article22 necklace and it's great, I love it. Rare get that wasn't second hand
The amount of patchwork stuff I see from Beams that goes straight to the inspo folder… it’s getting to be a problem
This is great.
Yall have seen my most recent purchases a lot, I have a tendency to hyper focus on styling new stuff. Two huge striped shirts from PaA (rip), vintage coat from Perry Ellis, and a huge mock neck seater from Muji.
All of them have been great, I’ve been living in the sweater at home and the shirts are really fun because of how dramatic they can be
i've done a lot of buying of late (check #recent-purchases for where my five guys fund went) and have no real regrets; probably the most notable are the vintage brown blazer and yellow PRL andrew pants that got turned into shorts soon after
main thing has been building a bench of things that fit and now finding all the permutations to form what is becoming my personal style
This is so good.
Be sure to post those white socks to r/preppy
I have never flipped a purchase, I save a picture of what I'm thinking of buying to my desktop for a week or so to see if the passion fades. my juniors and drakes scarves are still getting worn as often as I can before its 80 degrees in april.
my last cops been bangers ngl
Junya coat, btssb jsk and blouse, Junya skirt
This Junya skirt didn’t work out for me but lucky worked for Dylan and she had these jeans so we did a swap (and some cash from me)
Haven't got much lately since I'm hunting for, ideally, a navy blazer... wish me luck! Thrifted a M65 jacket that needed some work and I've been wearing it out now just need to be arsed to take pics lol. https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1135916565183856660/1212185469350322288
When it needs to happen, cuz the fit isn't working + no returns, yeah flipping is a hassle. But feels good to get rid of what just isn't happening. And this month I was thanked by a couple buyers for helping out with detailed measurements that was neat. Luckily brand vintage and milsurp both lend themselves to being resold easily...
Maybe a tangent but especially after listening to some Style & Direction podcast eps I'm jealous of you guys who can just give what you grow out of etc to friends regularly... Most of what I've been able to do is handing small stuff to my dad :AnyaDerp:
those jeans are wild
Best recent purchase was a pair of Kapital jeans for $120... gambled on a grailed listing with bad photos (left) and ended up with Brown century denim in a wide fit that the previous owner raw hemmed (right)
Holy shit what a come up
scored this vintage Coors trucker hat for $20 on Ebay, i’m pretty excited to wear it all summer
lately i’m gravitating even more towards made in US / vintage / second hand if at all possible. I really like getting secondhand clothing that’s kinda beat up, it makes me less afraid to wear it a ton
