To dart or not to dart

I have some dress shirts / button downs and debating if I should add darts. For dress shirts I tuck them in and there's this spoof of air in the back. Darts help fix that, but the dart lines seem a bit unattractive. If there's a pattern i.e. gingham/stripes, it also throws off the pattern. Another concern for button downs that I may wear untucked, is that I feel darts on untucked shirts look weird? Or maybe that's just me I have also tried shirt stays and they do a good job pulling the excess fabric down. They are a bit annoying to put on, but the pulled down look for shirt stays also seem off, it's like the shirt is pulled down on my chest and my nipples show etc I do not want to take in the sides, because then it would be too narrow width wise. It's just the back that has excess fabric Do y'all like the look of darts, and if so, is it ok on untucked button down shirts, and do you prefer darts on solid colored shirts and/or patterned shirts?

I hate darts bc then the shirt is too tight and I can’t move

I get some of my shirts darted to get rid of the extra fabric if I get something that's a little too boxy for my liking. It depends on the pattern, but sometimes I actually feel they're more noticable on a solid colored shirt. But also, most people take more notice of how the clothes fit (if they even do that) and not so much the little details like darting. At least that's my experience
