ripping/tearing of first few layers in one local spot on large print.
The first few layers ripped and teared in one local spot on a large print.
What might have been the cause and what can be done to fix it?

The "waves" next to it would hint at a squished layer there. i guess it waved there too, but enough to catch on. check if the bed is planar at that spot first would be my first try.
Second attempt showed some marks on initial layers but didn't continue tearing
Wouldn't the bed mesh compensate though? Perhaps I need a finer bed mesh here?

yeah, if its not probing that particular area, and also not with high density - which i doubt it does, that would do nothing since it interpolates...
okay, so I've done two tests to confirm this is a not a bed mesh issue and instead something wrong with the surface itself.
1. I increased bed mesh density so that probeing occurs every 10mm, and still got same result.
2. I then went back to regular mesh density and rotated the bed surface 90° so that the problem area was in a different spot (back right instead back left)
perhaps the surface has been contaminated in some way or the PEI coating was not applied correctly in this area?
I will try cleaning with hot water and dish soap
I cleaned the build surface and that resolved the issue, able to print clean first layer in that spot now
With isoprophilic or other special products?
70% IPA then soap and warm water
soap for hands or for dishes?
dish soap
