Banana Republic
Imo, worth it on sales if you can get it 50% off, though sometimes you get 70-80% off on clearance or discontinued styles.
I like their poplin dress shirts, pima cotton t-shirts and some of their t-shirts/polos that are luxury-touch/soft-touch brand. And some of their jeans.

I work from home and I have an unnecessary amount of their henleys as my day-to-day "uniform". Boring stuff, but I'm a boring guy working a boring job, so it works and they've held up well. Pretty good chance they'll run a sale here this weekend over labor day (sept 1 - sept 4).
BR is very stuck in the Slim Fit era. Quality is good for the price if you get it on sale but most of their stuff isn't too interesting.
For a bit they were trying to focus on heritage pieces and they had some nice stuff that gave more of a "60's vacation" vibe. I don't think those sold that well cause they're going back to just business casual.
As a tall guy I do appreciate that they're good with extended sizes.
BR is very stuck in the Slim Fit eraThis may work for its brand. It's intended to be preppy and office-like.
It's probably going for the late 20's to 40's crowd, for the professional career look. And right now, that age group is millennials (who started the slim fit trend).
Definitely has to do with the target market, but it's worth mentioning. As a millennial who's trying to move away from slim fits I've basically stopped shopping there.
Going a size up on a slim fit shirt is a decent option to get the best of both worlds. Especially for people on the taller side. But yeah, BR will probably change its approach in a year or 2.
I'm a millennial and I've moved away from tight fits recently.
as someone new to fashion im not used to BR having like 200 different types of chino pants lol

This is kind of cool, right?

interestingly, there are some more "current" fits appearing in their store. I was lucky enough to pick up a couple pairs of some wide fit linen pants that sold out super quick in a cream and black.
Excuse the repost as I just posted this two days go in WAYWT

40% off right now they have their Hopsack Wide-Leg pant in both Navy and Black

i dont mind it
this i mean
I heard their Supima T-Shirts are of better quality than Uniqlo
Pretty bold claim
Love their Rapid Movement Tapered Chino though
the BR tshirts are great if you can find them on sale. i prefer them over uniqlo just because i like the way they fit on me
quality-wise, i'm not gonna complain about a sub-$20 shirt falling apart on me after a while as long as i get a decent amount of normal use out of them. not that they have fallen apart, but i also just don't have high expectations of them to begin with
Which is probably why stocking on them during sales and having a huge rotation at your disposal helps in the long term
yep. i say sub $20 but i'm sure ive gotten a few under $10 during some of their bigger sales. my wife also has a gap credit card, which i think adds an extra discount on top of everything else, which is nice
Question: idk if they have this in other countries but in Canada there's a BR outlet sale for a few days late October. Anyone been to one of these before? I'm curious if stuff sells out often or what
Oddly enough, no. Only one store in the vicinity and the same could be said about Gap, so I mostly discovered it online after giving a shot to their chinos. Their Family and Friends event 1-2 weeks ago was nice too
Indeed, I got a few of their knit henleys and an overshirt. I think they're starting to veer into a more modern fit now.
Did anyone get any of the Peter Do collection?
Oh what the hell I did not see this one coming
There might still be some pieces in store, there are few online. I really love the pieces I got.
what’d you get?
I ended up getting the tuxedo utility blazer, the artisan pants in both colors, the striped artisan tunic, the convertible sweater vest in black, and the crew neck leather sweater. I'm a man and I think all the pieces are unisex.
Considering getting a few more pieces if they are still available at the end of the week.
Curious if anyone has experience with banana factory quarter zips: https://bananarepublicfactory.gapfactory.com/browse/product.do?pid=486714001
I'm debating from ordering from banana versus Spier and Mackay. The sale is pretty enticing but not sure about the quality and the sizing. I'm 5' 6 and usually small fits a bit large on me (sleeves typically too long).

Banana Republic Factory quality is very bad in my experience
Ah rip
I tried the BR and not the BR factory version on in store about a year ago, definitely lightweight but fairly good fit and construction. Never pulled the trigger on it though.
i literally only learned the way BR has the three dots on the label for factory items as I was trying to find info about a linen shirt i got from a thrift store. I'll have to see how it holds up since reports on BRF seems mixed at best
(it was like 5 bucks so not a huge loss if it sucks)
