ASA multi part fails (singles print fine)

Printing some enclosure parts and optionals. Single parts come out fine but anytime I do multiples it fails and the tip gets goopy. Any idea where to start tweaking? Retraction?

First layer bed 80C then to 90. 240C nozzle. 1.5mm retraction 25mm/s. Flashforge ASA. 0% fan

Try 100/110 for the bed.

Isn’t the glass temp around 97?

Do u use any kind of adhisiv glue?

I use a PEI sheet and it works without any glue. I usually print at 100/110

It just looks like there is some glue on the picture 🙂

have you tried enabling z-hop?

Z-hop is enabled Using glue yes, on glass bed. Only have a textured pei on the other side. Heard that would damage it so sticking to glass for now.

Pretty sure they are meaning the glassing temp of the filament. If its polymaker asa, I think it's 110? So maybe try your bed at 108

print on the textured pei asa won't damage it, squish the filament a bit, don't use glue, set bed at 110 . Start with low fan speed (10%), if corners are curling up increase the fan speed in 5% increments follow this and will work 100% don't use different temps for the first layer

I read a lot of stories of people ruining their textured pei plates with ASA. I am bit hesitant to do that.

with asa or with wrong z offset and nozzle crashing in the bed? This is my pei sheet after a year and 2 months of printing abs and asa(around 30kg) in the middle you see user error (z offset too low and nozzle dragging on the bed)

your choice though👍

Can you post pics of the successful prints (especially the bottom)? If the marks on the bed in the glue in OP are any indication then you might need more first layer/Z squish. Pics will confirm.

I could certainly try that. Do you think the gooping on the nozzle is just because the poor adhesion rather than a retraction issue?

It might be, yes. When you say "gooping on the nozzle" is this a little bit near the beginning of the print? Or a lot built up around the nozzle after the parts have knocked off the bed? The former could be the filament not sticking to the bed and "floating" around the nozzle (the nozzle could be stickier than the bed, as far as the filament is concerned, so it stick there instead of falling off) because there's not enough layer squish. The latter gooping is to be expected if a part comes off the bed and doesn't need its own fix. 😉

Tried again increasing retraction and retraction speed and decreasing retraction gap. Seems to have worked. We’ll see in a couple hours but it printed ok for about 4hours so far All of you were right. Needed better squish on first layer and increase my bed temps.. Had nothing to do with retraction.
