Did you use the configurator in Rat-OS 2.x?
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
yes
also just tried ratos 1.2.4 still no mcu
Don't use 1.x, it is deprecated now.
When you used the configurator did it flash your skr?
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
i only could do it manually and it could not detect my skr
if checked the file it went to a .FUR
That's the problem, you need to make sure it flashes properly
Is the raspberry pi connected to the Internet?
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
yes
Did you update everything before compiling the firmware?
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
i just used the 2.0.2
do you want me to flash the pi then update and then compile the firmware ?
https://os.ratrig.com/docs/installation#updating
Then go back to the configurator and flash it again

still have this
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
now i downloaded the firmware and put it on an sd card
put it in the skr and pressed the reset button and it gave me a green blinking led
You clicked the compile firmware button? Then download the firmware?
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
yes
And when you come back to this page and click the "check board status" button what does it say?

@miklschmidt not sure if there is anything else to try before having to ssh in?
Other sd cards
That’s usually the issue
There’s nothing gained by SSHing in. It’s not connecting via USB.
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
already tried 2 different sd cards
perhaps the format is incorrect? Does it need to be fat32 or fat16? Sometimes too large sd cards won't work either
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
i tried fat 32 at 8kb and 4kb on 16 gb sd cards and 128 gb for pi and 32 for skr
you shouldnt have to change cluster sizes just fat32. 16GB is too big I think. Try tricking it with a 1GB partition
This is just for the flashing oke you dont have to change anything for the rpi
Have you tried different USB cords to the pi?
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
yes nothing changed
still nothing, could it be that the skr is bricked?
are you still trying to flash it to make it visible from ratos?
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
yeah
and stil every time when you put the flash card in, it blinks as if its flashing?
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
when i put in the skr and press the reset button it flashes a green led for a couple seconds
isnt green just reading the card, not necessarily flashing?
i had a similar issue with an psfytec or whatever its called
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
if i take sd card out it turns the .bin file into the .FUR file so i think it works
yeh sounds like it
Im sorry if I missed parts, i did skim back to the top ... 😉 but did you open a terminal with ssh, sudo to root and used dmesg -T --follow (or something similar) to see what appears when you unplug and plug the skr into the pi?
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
well i get this now
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
it's the same with the usb plugged in or not
@skar__ Sorry was afk for a bit. As far as I am concerned that is either a hardware or cabling issue. Hardware can be either the pi or the skr. I know thats not very helpful but I don't think its the sdcard or the flashing. If you can, I would try another pi, perhaps borrow one
Can you connect other things to the pi usb? Try a mouse or external disk see what appears in dmesg
whether you get the same errors
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
i'll try my old pi 3b+ in my cr10
nothing really different happened only the red messages didn't show up
well thats a good thing

Now i also pluged in my c270 and old prusa mainboard
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
ok i now tried to do the same on my pi4
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
1 usb port seems to be dead all the other seem to work fine
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
but still nothing with the skr
Was this skr ever working? Maybe it is a bad board
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
Worked for more than 1.5 years and stopped working like 3 days ago
I missed whether you tested the skr and ratos on the pi3
fascinating-indigoOP•16mo ago
tried it but same story
It sounds like the skr has a fried usb port as well then. Can only guess but perhaps the dead port on the pi4 is related to that, maybe accidentally shorted it when plugging/unplugging ...

yeah i had the same conclusion after a while. Now i need to get another board, thinking of getting an octopus board. but don't know if the different models actually make a differance with klipper.
It doesn't 🙂 Just be sure it's supported: https://os.ratrig.com/docs/boards/list
