My white t-shirts keep staining. Help?
Almost every white t shirt I buy gets stained after a handful of washes. Dark grey streaks throughout the t-shirts. Doesn't happen to almost any other colour t-shirt I buy from light grey to blue. Am I just buying too cheap? Wrong wash cycle? Spending a ton on white t shirts!

what temperature are you using, and are you washing them separately?
Usually 40C, and I don't tend to separate - do you reckon that'd impact just the white ts?
it might. I would try washing separately in cold water.
new denim will often bleed and should be washed separately.
Yes
Wash cold at the very least
Hey there. Always wash your colors and whites separate. I remember as a kid hearing that it didn't matter because of the quality of modern clothes and detergents, but my white clothes always pick up a greyish tint after being washed enough times with colors.
It also helps with sorting. As you have a big ball of white laundry and a big ball of not white laundry.

It helped me get my airism shirts back to white, but it's a little more effort esp if you live in a country that doesn't have hot water running to the washer like mine.
Separate whites, dark, light colours when washing. It's laundry 101
Reading the title I was imagining coffee or spaghetti stains which would have been more relatable to me
On this topic, does bleach make white shirts as good as new?
Depends, chlorine bleach can make things very white but will damage the fabric and strips other colours out, smells bad and is toxic. Oxygen bleach will brighten, is colour safe and is a bit gentler on fabric/the environment.
Plenty of these too 😆 thanks for the feedback everyone, will make sure to separate and wash on cold from now on!
Use blueing. It helps to make/keep them a really bright white.
Ah got it, thanks
this is so wild to me. Bluing adds a tint of blue to the fabric causing it to appear brighter and white reflects light, so our eyes interpret the white as being brighter than it was before.
