do you have a price range in mind?
do you want slim fit (wrong opinion) or wide fit (correct opinion)?
nah
my first question would be what pants are you trying that don't fit your thighs? what style are you looking for?
if it's too baggy I will get it tailored. I've tried on athletic fits from levi's, target, j crew and they are borderline skinny fit
anything 'relaxed' should fit just fine
levis, target, amazon, j crew, yes they are cheap brands but that's all i have for now
no but i mean style-wise.
like levi's 541 athletic fit, target's athletic fit etc
j crew relaxed chinos fit like a dream, and i am not a small man
and there's always the giant chinos for the sigma thighs
you could try sizing up in some of those brands and getting the waist taken in
and yeah, j.crew should have options in wider fits
I personally really like the wallace and barnes officer chinos
same. i haven't worn mine in a minute
hmm i will take a look into those, although the stuf I got from J crew is kinda meh tbh
they're $50 pants on sale
worth looking into loro piana and bruno cucelli too
they're plenty good
ok maybe I should have clarified my budget lolol
the 100% cotton stuff they sell is usually nice for the price. but as rej said, you get what you pay for
just to clarify, you have 75" thighs?
24"
what's your waist size, ish?
i feel like the stuff they sell is overpriced for the quality, although i could wait for a black friday sale
32, 33
oh yeah definitely. it's usually only worth it on deep discount imo
Hm. I would honestly step away from the "athletic" cut stuff then, to be honest. I think you'll find a lot of brands are opening to wider (or at least more tapered) cuts with bigger thighs. Worst case is you size up in the waist a bit, but I tend to find "athletic" cuts just accentuate your thighs vs fit them
keep in mind I am not athletic and do not have muscular thighs
xmdot is straight on, from J. Crew: Giant fit chinos, from Levi's 550s or more relaxed, for shorts, Patagonia Baggies
also plenty of vintage slacks will fit
gramicci, universal works, engineered garments, south2 west8, story mfg, frizmworks, vintage levis silvertabs, vintage nike acg, carhartt relaxed fit (sized up one), stan ray, carrier company work pants, evan kinori, de bonne facture, never cursed (mtm)
Orslow (non-slim) fatigues also probably work, their jeans probably don't
OrSlow varies so wildly but their fabrics are so good 😦
have you actually worn those brands?
as someone who has tried most of the brands he listed and spends too much time squatting, he knows what he's talking about
how much $ does this dude make
This you
yea... i didn't want to limit my options so i just said whatever price range but still, I wasn't expecting this much $ (just for loose fitting pants, not like cashmere or smth)
stan ray, vintage silvertabs, carhartts, and jcrew should not be more than $100 at most, especially if you're open to doing just a little more work to find them on sale or used
you're going to have to pay a little more for slightly more thoughtful designs that are actually comfortable
the brands you previously listed, the amazons, levis, and targets of the world, have to go for a lowest common denominator of design, which for pants is still slim/skinny stuff
no yea i get the carhartt and j crew stuff, but how is loose fitting pant cuts considered thoughtful design?
like increase the thigh, hip diameter and boom loose fitting pants
i used to think that way as well, but pants construction is actually pretty complicated. like you can't just add an inch of fabric to the thigh, you also have to consider how the seat is constructed so you don't flatten your customer's ass. it's the same reason you can't just buy pants in a larger waist size and have them tailor the waist down - you'll distort the seat and leg
meanwhile, when pant silhouettes are larger, fabric becomes more important in how it looks on your body. if you get wide pants in a flimsy, shitty fabric, they'll flap all over your legs in a really unattractive way as you walk. instead, you'd prefer to have a fabric with a bit more structure and heft to it so that it can hold its shape, but in general that also costs more
finally, the audience for bigger pants is still much smaller than the audience for slim pants, so you generally need to turn to slightly less well-known brands, which in turn means they're going to charge more than amazon or h&m (economies of scale yada yada yada)
You’re in a fashion discord, people aren’t going to recommend things if they aren’t well designed.
for what it's worth you have around the same waist size as me and I have 25" thighs
so pants, jeans etc are out there easily
i'm currently wearing some nudie tuff tony pants that are plenty roomy
others have listed brands like orslow and most other japanese/japanese inspired jean makers are going to have a pretty wide range of fits from slim to pretty wide legged. They are also going to publish pretty detailed size charts that will give you the thigh size, knee size, leg opening etc
Yea and my thighs are an inch bigger.
Blue collar. I’d recommend that you look at the buying second hand guide by GSH.
