Dramatic later shift every layer
I have a Vcore 500mm, and I'm experiencing these layer shifts at 15k accel. The grub screws are tight. Any ideas? I tensioned the belts until they are just short of being difficult to pinch together, but I am not sure how to interpret my belt tension graphs.

That sounds like they are way too tight. You want them just tight enough they don't slap the frame

under what conditions should they not slap the frame?
and if my belts are too tight, what could be causing these shifts?
when running the machine. If the belts are too tight it causes extra strain on the steppers, which can cause them to lose steps and cause layer shifts

ah interesting
thanks I'll try loosening and see if it helps
you should use your ADXL and measure the tension and then post the results

I'll do it right now

here they are now, but I've messed with them a bit after the print

here's where they were before the print

can bad stepper drivers cause skipped steps?
what do the individual X and Y graphs look like?
sure - what makes you suspect the drivers are the issue?

had to replace the Mainboard due to magic smoke, and one of the drivers died, which I replaced
from the photo it looks like it is only shifting in Y though. If it was just 1 driver it would be shifting diagonally since that correlates to a single stepper moving

I think it is shifting diagonally
how do I generate these?
also, what does slapping sound like?
https://os.ratrig.com/docs/configuration#using-an-accelerometer-adxl345
As it says,
GENERATE_SHAPER_GRAPHS
Configuring RatOS | RatOS
RatOS only needs minimal configuration to work, but comes with a lot of optional functionality that you can enable manually.

Your belts look too tight to me. For reference mine around about half as high as your graphs

they seem to make slapping noises sometimes though
ill try loosening, but are there any other causes for this sort of error?
it keeps happening
Do you need to run accel that high? Can try dropping to 10k accel, see how it goes...

Considering this printer is supposed to be able to do 15k I want to see if I can do 15k
but I still have issues at 8k
I think getting a 500 up to 15k accel is going to be a challenge... You'll need to find that perfect tension where the belts are neither too tight, nor too loose... Compared to a 300, for instance, much, much longer belt paths, heavier gantry, etc - def not things in favor of high accels - or at the least, make the sweet spot for high accels much smaller...
Might be helpful to tune first at 8k, if you can make that work, you can try going for higher accels
Even if you find that perfect tension, 15k may still be too much for those long belt runs to handle... Could try switching to genuine gates belts - higher quality belts may hold up better under that accel

ok sounds good
As long as it's printing up to spec
I am using a carbon fiber gantry so the gantry should be a bit lighter than normal but I can see the belt length being an issue
I was worried though bc I managed a benchy at 20k and it went fine but later prints started having trouble
