can't connect to mcu
after a full reinstall/ flash of the pi and the btt octopus v1.1 i still get an
"Klipper reports: ERROR
mcu 'mcu': Unable to connect"

did you verify that after flashing the octopus with the SD card it had changed the filename to firmware.cur?
no it is still dot bin ....what would interfere with this
Too big of a SD card, not formatted correctly, not removing the jumper from the octopus board, faulty wiring. Just to name a few
But before you can move on, you need to flash your octopus board
i have done everything i dont get it : no jumper on board except the 3 of the fan and the driver one everything is disconnected.... i tried like 5 time once i get it to be seen online and flashed by the online way didnt work. before the sdcard way didint work... cant produce a .cur i tired of this ...... i tried 2 card one 8go one 32go (i know its to big but the 8 didnt work already) they are both reformated to flat32 before puting the firware.bin on it .... the sd card in the pi seems good .... i dont know what to do anymore
it is like 2 week i try to make this thing work is the btt octopus fried or some thing ????????
@Helge Keck hi sry to bother you but i read the post:"MCU error in mainsail - cant connect to mcu " and when i wrote the comand: lsusb like you told the writer of the post i got :"Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 2109:3431 VIA Labs, Inc. Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub"
and its a different answer from the one he got any clues on what i am doing wrong
disconnect everything from the baord, keep only power connected
then try to flash the octopus
with the SD card
already did
and?
did it worked?
did it renamed the file?
cant flash
did not returned a.cur
then disconnect the pwoer cables as well, set the 5V jumper and conenct it with usb to the PI
then retry to flash with SD card
ok will do thx
didn't work
what could make a octopus not flash?
wrong filename, wrong file format
one sec
try this one
it didnt work
please share a photo of the mainboard
The cable still in the board are extension got the big 500 by 500 and all the cable are extended except the motor witch are disconected at the motor plug
disconnect every single cable from the baord
i mean every cable and every stepper driver
ok
then try to reflash again
ok following the ratos/configure i cant get it to detect the board it seems not to flash again... what is the exact procedure am i missing something... board stripped out of everything except jumper on driver and to select the fan voltage... sd card formated to flat 32 with your doc on it with usb c to pi with his card in it .... do i need to put the jumper to alim it through the pi and disconnect the 2 power wires ???
it cant detect the board bc you need to flash it first with the sdcard one time
do you have a older SD card ?
i can try one yeah
like disconnected from the pi ?
yes, told you, disconnect EVERYTHING from the baord
only keep the power cables
then try to flash with sd card
still return .bin
please share a photo of your baord where i can see the chip and everything
please make a photo from the top of the baord, so that i can see everything
this angle doesntz let me see anything
Sorry
are tthere any LEDs on when you turn on the power?
yes top blue under sd card and one red in middle
remove the power cables, insert sd card, set 5v jumper, connect pi, turn on pi, and wait 10 seconds
please see if there is a blue flashing light
ok
it is solid blue no flash after like 20 sec
please ssh into the pi
execute lsusb and share the output
another good thing
this is bc the ip entry in your host file was from another device and is invalid
please run
notepad.exe C:\\Users\\pc lillian/.ssh/known_hosts
and remove the ip entries with the PI ip
then save the file and try again to ssh into the PIit is the pi address i checked on my box i dont understand
remove all the lines that start with this ip adress
then save and close the file
is the Octopus connected with USB to the PI?
yes usb c on octopus and usb std on pi
thats not good
try another USB cable please and rerun lsusb
ok
same
ok, disconnect the USB cable
the cable is brand new
disconnect the USB cable
run
dmesg -w
share the output
then reconect the PI and run dmesg -w
again
share again the outputplease jsut share a screenshot, like this
donjt share textfiles i need to open with another tool
ok just the end
is this before or after connecting the USB cable?
before
now after
the new one
the board is connected with USB to the PI now, and it hasnt changed the output of the terminal?
this means the raspberry PI cant detect the board with USB, thats not good
please try every USB cable you have
try the same with the power cables and the removed 5v junmpe
ok will do i run the same line code an pray for something different?
yes
yes the
dmesg -w
output changes on the system, if you connect any usb device then there shoul dbe new lineson the second one they are new lines
the screenshots are identical
with the 24v alim
you dont need to share it anymore
you can test this by yourself
if
dmesg -w
is running
and if you cconnect anything to it with USB then there should be many new lines
try it with 24 or 5v and every USB cable yui can find
also try to conenct any other USB device to it, to test if the PI USB works at allcould i test another port on the pi ?
yes
maybe it just the one
if this doesnt work then your board is defective i am afraid
when i change usb the green led flash on the pi
the light doesnt matter, only the tmerinal output
how do you power the PI btw?
make sure to use minimum a 3AMP psu
buck converter set to 5.1v
to usb c power wires
try a smartphone charger
i did before it when i got it on mainsail and it reported under voltage so i switched to that method
the charger needs minim 3 AMP
mhh was a 2 amp samsung will try to find one with 3a
i have no charger with this power all have 2A max
ok, try it anyway
kind of the same
and it was on another usb with the btt board on 24v i 'll try to plug my phone
f my board toasted ?
most likely
i am sorry
there is a last chance
one sec
haa np not your fault big thx for the help
ho i like that
try this firmware
try to flash it with SD card, without USB cable
ok
i 'll try another card
on both card cant get the led to flash blue still a solid blue
not good
toasted?
well, not necessarily, there is another way to flash it, but i cant explain it in a chat how this works, thats too complciated. I would replace the board
ok do you know some place online where it is explained to try ?
well, i made this once for another board, to be able to do that you need some more knowledge i am afraid.
you can read from here if you are interested
