CB1 4B adapter Crashes immediately after startup
Hello, so I have flashed the following image onto my CB1 SD card: "2023-04-11-RatOS-v2.0.1-armbian-CB1.img.xz" and started it up. Shows RatOS, can also connect via Ethernet but crashes instantly with the green LED going blinking and has to be power supply resetted. There is a 4010 blowing onto the chips however the heatsinks will arrive next Tuesday so the chips are naked rn. Is it feasible that the device overheats or is there a different error going on?

sounds like a different error - I have run my CB1 without fan or heatsink for some time and never had that happen
things I would check:
* make sure the CB1 is fully seated down in the connetor
* use Balena etcher to ensure the file is written correctly to the SD card
Used Balena etcher,
Will disassemble the thing check all contacts and reassemle, 1 sce
Is that the correct image for a CB1 in Pi adapter anyway?
All contacts seem good
yes, that is the correct image
ACT diode is blinking again
I would reach out to BTT
You could try their official image just to rule out it being broken
Ok, How do I contact the CB1 in that case? It wont create the RatOS hotspot then, will it?
Putty I suppose?
What are you plugging it into? I assume whatever that is has a ethernet port you can plug into
most windows machines today support SSH so there's no need to install putty
I am trying both the WLan and the ethernet, I have a USB Ethernet adapter and the ether connector of by PC
Ok then Ill try their Klipper Build. Reetched the SD now it does not even show the RatOS Hotspot. Just my Luck...
Worked with their official build
Guess I teach myself how to klipper now....
Issue may be closed now.
What board do you have the cb1 plugged into?
its the CB1 Raspberry 4 mold
so the adapter that maxes it into a raspberry 4 replacement
I tested that cb1 adapter. How long did you wait for the hotspot to start?
If you ever change your mind, check your router WPA version. I have WPA 3 by default and the CB1 hated dealing with that. Swapping to WPA 2 made it very stable.
Thanks for the hint. This printer is also using SKR 1.4, which is not yet supported, so I cant go back.
Refreshed until I found it. connected, started working ==> Lost contact
Tried several times.
What did you connect with?
Both Lan cable (tried with 2 different computers) and connect to the WLan hotspot.
The Klipper install is going horribly, can I install RatOS and use the SKR 1.4 even thought it is not supported, or should I look into getting a supported board? I am going to try again with Vadams tip of using WPA2. How to I change to WPA 2 anyway?
connecting LAN cable won't help with the hotspot. What devices did you use to connect to the RatOS hotspot?
A Laptop
Also the LAN cable worked before, you can still get onto the initial config page.
If it is crashing because of it being connected to a LAN wire there is something wrong. I have used the exact same image on multiple CB1s and they all work. Have you tried a different SD card to make sure it isn't just corrupt files?
Yes. Also I checked the SD the file were fine. Its a CB1 in a raspberry 4 adapter
Its a CB1 in a raspberry 4 adapterThat makes no difference - sounds like CB1 is busted. I would contact BTT
It works with the BTT provided Klipper version, it just that that version in turn neither likes PAM nor finding its own mesh calibration. Next try will be an official Klipper build from github.
I don't know what to say - I can't reproduce it
Don't worry about it.
How do I switch the WPA version?
Rather tell me: Is there any chance at all to use RatOS with an SKR 1.4 or should I get a supported board?
@miklschmidt you would know better this question
Yes, but i wouldn't recommend it for beginners.
Configure it like klipper? Enter all the configurations in klipper.cfg and have it then export the firmware as it would be klipper?
That and you'd have to make a pin map like you see in any of the board folders, and it wouldn't flash automatically etc etc.
Ok ill try it. Thank you and good night
Go to the web address of your router, it is different for each one. Probably somewhere along security or where you find the password. Might take a bit of looking around to locate it.
Oh, thanks. Thats not the issue though: I cannot configure RatOS in the first place.
Got it:
Now works: The Ratos configure WLan never worked on the CB1, neither did connecting it directly: After I connected it via LAN to my router I was able to conduct all the configuration and Now the CB1 Works with RatOs. Only took 1 week.
Ok, it continues:
Now he does not find a couple of local macros including: The BLtouch etc. Currently I am configuring everything manually. Does the program have dependencies i.e. if I dont declare it to be a standard ratrig does this lead to it not finding the bltouch macro as well as the input-shaper?
path is wrong, it should be
/home/pi/printer_data/config/RatOS/printers/v-core-3/input-shaper.cfg
ahhhhh
where did you get that path from? what did you do?
Copied the wrong thing
Now the printer no longer finds its own meshing tool
why are you copying things?
what are you doing?
Please follow the RatOS instructions
Hello, Sequence error: I was using a template, however I also had the bwilliant Idea to restructure the document to collect all includes at the top. I was not aware that the sequence in printer.cfg makes any difference. Include PAM needs to be after the mesh definition and PAM definitions need to be after that.
Hello, Can I use this for the CB1? https://www.3docity.com.au/adxl345-and-bigtreetech-cb1-input-shaper-setup/
3docity
3Docity Australia
ADXL345 And BIGTREETECH CB1 (Input Shaper Setup) - 3Docity Australia
Input shaper is a technique used by Klipper firmware on a 3d printers to reduce ringing (aka ghosting or echoing) in 3d prints. Ringing is caused by
Or is this not compatible with RatOS?
Look at the wiring diagram for your board. RatOS wires ADXL345's to the control board.
welp the control board is an SKR 1.4 (self configured). everything works now, no resonance measurement yet
so there is no presedent
should I look up the SKR1.4 Pinout for its internal I²C and reconfigure for connecting the ADX to the SKR1.4?
accel
adxl345_cs_pin=null,
I checked the boards present and found an SKR1.4 turbo: There does not seem to be a possibility to attach the ADXL to the SKR1.4 directly, is there?
That’s not a supported board
Is RatOS capable of using the CB1 rp4s pins?
Yes there is, there’s an SPI header in the expansion port.
Nothing to do with RatOS you’re using standard klipper at this point
The SPI header on the SKR1.4 seems to be 5V so Id need a level shifter, or do I? Well if i am doing standard clipper than I will continue to follow that description and attacht he ADX directly to the CB1. So far all necessary config was eater by RatOS, so what is the worst that can happen...
No the ADXL345's VIN port are usually 5V capable. The standard GY-291 will work fine with 5V.
I haven't seen one that didn't work with 5V yet
So In case the CB1 thing does not work I can connect the GND and VDD to GND +3.3V respectively and connect the rest to the 4 Pins of the 5V SPI header on the SKR1.4?
Yes, but it's unlikely that it wouldn't work because of the power pins
Ok thank you. I am trying the CB1 right now.
CB1 worked, graphs are getting generated. Thank you for your help and Patience.
Does the printer detect the orientation of the ADXL automatically? I never entered any config clearifying it but the measurement all make sense.
No, but all it matters for is the label in your graph.
And done. Thank you for your help.
