Printer Refuses to Power on!
Hi, has anyone had a failure of one of the plugs that supplies power to the printer? This is what I have been using. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07DMKBZ9R/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I was in the middle of a print and it literally just shut down. The red light will not illuminate on the power switch so I am assuming that this is at fault? Any advice on preventing this. Should I look for a better plug in? I check the fuse and it was ok.

The switch has a fuse. It is between the red switch and the power plug. Did you check that?

Yeah the fuse is intact
Sorry, just saw you checked the fuse.

No worries
Did you check with a meter to be sure?

No. I will grab it and try
I had a slight flicker on the red light when I was testing it and then nothing so I suspect the switch has failed. I barely used it tho. I usually power on and off at the power bar
There have been issues with this type in the past. Several posts about using a seperate switch from the power inlet. I have the same setup as you and have not had a problem though

Okay, I ordered a new one. There was no smell of any kind of burning or puffs of smoke. Unfortunately I broke a pin off the back so I can't test further. Should I archive this until I can get the new plug on the 8th?
Others may have some feedback.

I am getting 1.2 ohms
I suspect the switch then. Unfortunate the lead broke off. I suspect an open circuit. Is this single pole or double pole? might be able to check the other side if double pole

I am not 100% sure. It makes sense tho. I appreciate your time very much and I will be sure to update and do a full report when I get to the bottom of it which will hopefully help others. Merry Christmas 🙂
Welcome, enjoy!
What voltage comes out of your wall outlet (120 or 220)?
solid-orangeOP•2y ago
Its 120, I have the PSU set to the 115 option
Should I have changed something on the plug unit before using?
That plug is rated at 10 amps which is way too low for 120v vcore3
For a vcore3 400 or smaller you can use a 15 amp rated switch. For a 500mm you will need a 20 amp switch

Sorry I was meant to update this. I think it was the fuse. I tested it again and it was 1.2 which fails the continuity check
I have a new 10 amp version but I am guessing I am on borrowed time then still
Do you have a link to anything that you would recommend
10 amp is a no no for 120v systems
