Heater extruder not heating as expected rate..
I received this error during a print.. did a PID test (PID_CALIBRATE HEATER=extruder TARGET=210) and if I use the fan at 100%, the test fails, tried again with fan at 25% and test fails.. tried again at 10%, tests fails.. the only time the PID test worked was with th fan off.. This is a new printer and the test cube printed just fine.. this error happened on another item I wanted to print..

what hotend are you using? What size heater cartridge are you using?

So the hotend is a mosquito.. I ordered a silcone boot for it.. As I mentioned, I did a PID test (without part fan on) successfully and saved those settings.. I haven't tried a reprint with the new settings as of yet..
and what size heater cartridge are you using?

The successful PID test, I had the temp set for 210.. the hotend would overshoot to 217ish.. then the test brought the temp down to 205 and the hotend would drop to about 197-198ish.. so the variance is about 7-8 degrees I would say.. I saved the config file with the new settings.. as I said, I haven't tried it as of yet..
i think it's a 0.4 .. (it's meant for 1.7mm filament..
No, the heater cartridge is the thing that actually gets hot. It is rated in Watts

ah.. that unfortunately I'm not sure.. it came with the mosquito hotend..
you could have an under powered heater cartridge, so you need to figure out what one you are using

just a quick search says "This hotend for 3D printers is rated for temperatures up to 500°C, covering all printable thermoplastics"
kk.
funny.. slice engineering doesn't post the wattage..
where did you buy it from?

Ratrig..
1 x Mosquito Hotend - Rat Rig Bundle (24V/60W Heater + NTC 100K B3950 + Copper Plated Nozzle 0.4/1.75mm)
Is on my invoice..
right, so it says right there it is a 60W heater which should be fine. So it is just the mosquito is a bad design

ah ok.. any recommendations on a good hotend? 🙂
As I mentioned, I ordered the hotend sock so I'll wait until that comes in and see if it makes a difference..
what do you typically print? Material wise - PLA, ABS, PC, etc
robust-apricotOP•2y ago
it will be mainly PLA, PTE
Some ABS
most people would recommend Rapido then

Ok, thanks alot!

Make sure you override the thermistors profile accordingly.
