So, it appears to have worked itself out. I must have confused it by alternating launching via epic, steam, and SMM?

I relaunched epic games launcher, launched SF via that without using SMM. It opened the game. I closed the game, tried to launch via SMM and was successful.

when I switched to steam it immediateley launched steam, updated, launched
