Casual everyday shoes
Hello,
I a 40 year old male struggle to find shoes for regular every day wear.
If I am going to an upscale social event, dress shoes make sense.
If I am active/exercising runners make sense.
On days where I am outdoors-y, hiking boots make sense.
At the climbing gym, rock climbing shoes make sense.
etc. You get the idea.
But when it is just heading out to the grocery store or visiting a friends house, I find most of the shoes don't fit my style preferences.
- Loafers are just ugly to me (personal preference. If you're into them I love that for you)
- Trainers look odd outside of athletic contexts.
- Boots are usually chonky - though not always.
- Sandals? Not unless I am at the beach.
- Budget department store options (kmart, target etc) look cheap, are cheap and probably destroy your feet over time.
I wouldn't mind wearing something like this, but if I am paying $230 ($152 USD) for a pair of shoes, I am going to want to take care of them. For every-day casual shoes I don't want to have to take care of them.

I'm not saying there are no options out there at all, but I would be interested to get some outside perspectives. What do you guys like to wear? (even if contradictory to above) links to examples very much appreciated.
