hosting your own server is the best option, but this works just fine too (sadly due to how this works, there is no permanent domain so you have to share it at the start of every session)

once you open it to lan you will be given an address that you give to your friend, super easy to use

e4mc allows you to basically "host" your own server, no need for other people to download it

very good fix: use the “fabulously optimized” modpack and then then use the “open to internet” button (provided by e4mc iirc)
