But then when even I imagine golden buttons with the outfits above, I can feel some sort of mismatch.
*Edited: Which defeats the versatility purpose I suppose, but c'mon, golden basket-weave textured buttons...

I wouldn't say that I am shooting for the standard businesswear look, but I do enjoy understatement with the exception of accessories/shoes. Buttons I would also count as accessories and hence the whole* ordeal, but I understand also where you are coming from. Drape-y, soft, ivory trouser–the navy look–would go with said golden buttons, I think.

I also want to comment on an extrapolation of this, even though it is glass clear: the physical whereabouts of any thrifting location (but moreso for the ones that work like charity shops) changes the game significantly. I would assume local theaters of a "higher order" would be stocked up with more quality garments, than one-use sewing projects with polyviscone fabrics.

Kyn's right! My recommendation would be a selection that allows you to wear trousers at most twice (once preferred) a week, press* after 5 wears and dry clean after 10; and dress shirts–again–once a week, into the machine and then iron after every wear.
