Opening up my server to the public
Hey everyone, I have a server that I have been hosting on my own computer for 10+ years (it’s changed versions but the world has remained intact) now and only letting in friends and family. It is a paper server and I have a good few plugins but nothing crazy however the world is vast. I finally am in a spot where I’d like more people to be able to join. My main question is around the safest way to do so.
I would love to be able to “open the floodgate” so to speak and let people start joining and experiencing but again want to ensure on the network side I’m safe. The plugin/internal protection side I am working on getting all my permissions and anti grief zones down.
My main question is should I stick with self hosting and just “lock down” my network and server or explore a hosting option as I may need to scale off my personal computer. My current specs are more than reasonable to host on my own, (Paper server 1.21) Ryzen 5900x 4070ti 32gb DDR4 1tb SSD
