What I like about the summer walk, other than a comfortable sole and the supple feel of a slipper, is having the “signs of manufacturing” reduced to a minimum. There are no laces, no need for a saddle: no stitches save the minimum required to construct the shoe. It harkens back to a very old idea of elegance in clothing as not showing the work of the craft that created it. I will agree that the white sole makes them decidedly not fashionable. I think of them more as sneakers anyway.

Ahhh yeah. That’d do it. A shame leather soles are so much less comfortable for walking any kind of distance.

Yeah that’s the problem when you have the most successful and recognizable luxury brand of all time. Kind of becomes all things to all people. I can see why that would be off-putting from a fashon perspective. Fantastic watches to own and wear though.

For a decorate-tongue style, I think penny over tassel. But to me, I prefer the modern minimal design
