how do I remove this permanent ping from this server??
This might sound stupid but have you tried to mark the one above as unread (which you would have more than 1 ping) then mark the whole channel as read?

from what i've experienced (along with 2 others i guess), marking the message or the message above where the ping originated as unread then re-mark it as read might work. But you must know where it come from, and i dont really know if it works for everyone (since it didnt work for one person, which is insults)
