Dash Plugin Suddenly Causing Severe Performance Issues in Unreal Engine 5.3
Background:
Initially, I was using Dash 1.7 without any issues, and everything ran smoothly. The problems began unexpectedly after attempting to update to version 1.8. Although I reverted to version 1.7 due to interface bugs in 1.8 Beta, and it worked fine for a while, these severe performance issues suddenly emerged without any clear trigger.
Current Issues:
- Extreme freezing when opening the project browser (approximately 10 minutes delay)
- Computer freezes for about 10 minutes when opening a project, used to take less the a minute to open
- Significant lag when navigating through the viewport
Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
- Reinstalled Unreal Engine
- Tested without plugins - confirmed normal performance
- Systematically added plugins back to identify the issue
- Confirmed Dash as the problematic plugin
- Attempted complete uninstallation including registry cleanup
- Tried switching from DirectX 12 to DirectX 11 inside the project (slight improvement but still not optimal)
System Specifications:
Hardware: Alienware
RAM: 128GB
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4080 16GB
Software Details:
Unreal Engine Version: 5.3
Dash Versions Tested: 1.7, 1.8, and 1.8.3 (all exhibiting the same issue)
License Type: Monthly subscription
Additional Notes:
I found this below in unreal output log:
Running Python start-up script 'C:/Program Files/Epic Games/UE_5.3/Engine/Plugins/Marketplace/GraphNUnrealPlugin/Content/Python/init_unreal.py': 512.769476 secs
Issues persist across all projects, even those without Dash scatters but plugin enabled
Projects previously created with Dash scatters work normally when Dash is uninstalled
Switching to DirectX 11 provides minimal improvement in loading times
The problem appeared suddenly despite previously working perfectly with version 1.7
I've become reliant on Dash for my workflow and need assistance resolving these issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
