Turning the Map Armory to QAM in hhd-ui in desktop mode has fixed me up Thanks for your attention.
Anyone else with this issue, somehow the default was swapped from checked to unchecked and that option doesn't appear in the decky plugin at this time, so a desktop mode or triple click for hhd gui should get you access to it.

Hmm, I wonder how I turned that off. The option doesn't appear in the decky hhd interface at all and as far as I know I never entered the new hhd qam interface at all.

no, it just opens kcalc. I can re-enable hhd for game mode but I think the qam has been remapped in the kernel init to 'share' for some reason

@antheas same behavior on 0505 nintendo mode is not set in hhd
just noticed that the right face button brings up kcalc in desktop mode
