MPV HDR stopped working in the latest bazzite:stable
Hello. I have mpv set up on my system to use the HDR WSI. After updating today I saw that kylegospo's vk_hdr_layer package was now included. I had been using a different vk-hdr-layer (https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/jackgreiner/vk-hdr-layer/), but they shouldn't really be any different from what I can tell. The way I have mpv and the HDR layer set up is via systemd-sysext (you can see my custom layers that I use here: https://github.com/AlexNPavel/fedora-sysexts). With bazzite:41.20250216.2, mpv HDR works and can be verified by hitting
I
while playing an HDR video on an HDR screen (format for the display is rgb10a2 and there is a row for HDR10 in the display section). With the latest stable, that doesn't work.
I don't believe the vk_hdr_layer package is itself to blame, since the older sysext replaces the new one, so it should be identical to before (disabling sysext to allow just the newly included vk_hdr_layer to be present doesn't fix it). HDR via gamescope still works correctly though (using ENABLE_HDR_WSI=1 DXVK_HDR=1 %command% just gives washed out colors even before the recent changes, so I always just used gamescope).
Any ideas what changes might've happened in since 20250216.2 that could've caused the HDR_WSI to break?2 replies

Internal speakers for Steam Deck not detected
I decided to try Bazzite for my Steam Deck today. I installed Bazzite using the latest image released today (v2.0.0) from Github and chose the
bazzite-deck
image. After install the internal speakers are not detected and the only audio devices shown in the Steam Big Picture UI are "auto_null" and "External device". I checked the rpm-ostree image and noticed it was on bazzite-deck:38
so I bumped it to bazzite-deck:latest
, but the issue persists.10 replies
