So long as I launch it via the file directory it really won't matter that steam always shows "update paused" even with no mb/kb downloaded?

I can't load the game as U8 though that's the issue despite following the instructions on the ficsit website.
I did all the steps required to launch an older version of Satisfactory (8.0), but when I load up steam Satisfactory still has a "update paused" thing for the game, which is weird because I never STARTED the update to 1.0, and the depot I put in the PROPER FOLDER has had everything done correctly etc. What gives? What do I do here?
