Thoughts on the Earth rising claim?
There is a group of people including some youtubers like Del and Level headed William that claim that the Earth must be rising up as their answer to why things fall. Their claim is that the Earth is crashing into the object rather than the object falling.
Why do they claim this? From my limited understanding, they claim this is happening because objects in free fall don't have acceleration. If you have a truck full of water and the truck starts accelerating the water moves. When doing this experiment with water in a container in free fall, the water doesn't move to indicate acceleration. Accelerometers also don't indicate any acceleration is occurring when dropped in free fall.
Due to this, they claim that the Earth MUST be rising up. Thoughts on this?
