Getting started
Here's how to quickly get started with Overlay Expert. Create your overlay 1. Go to https://overlay.expert and sign in with Twitch. 2. Create your overlay: a) Start with a free template on the Marketplace, or b) Create a new overlay from scratch. For tutorials on how to create overlays, see YouTube. 3. Click Save to save your overlay. If you are streaming with OBS ... ... and streaming directly from your PC ... 1. After saving your overlay, copy your browser source URL shown near the top of the Overlay settings drawer. 2. Open OBS, and under Sources, click the add button (+), select Browser, and create a new browser source. 3. For URL, paste the browser source URL from step #1 and then click OK. 4. You are now ready to stream live with your overlay. If you are streaming with our Twitch Extension ... ... and streaming directly from your gaming console or mobile device ... 1. From your Twitch Creator Dashboard, install the extension directly from here. 2. Once installed, click Configure to open the extension configuration screen. 3. Find your overlay and click Choose. 4. In the bottom right, set the extension as Overlay 1. Remember, you can always manage your extensions from your My Extensions tab here and the extension will need to be activated and set as Overlay 1 in order for your chosen overlay to be shown. 5. Timers
Show the stream uptime, current viewer uptime (Extension only) or a count up or down timer controlled with chat commands. Adding a timer 1. From the Overlay settings drawer, create a new layer or click on an existing layer to access the Layer setting drawer. 2. Expand the Content panel, and then under Text groups, click on an existing text group or add a new text group. 3. From the list of dynamic items, click on Timer to add a timer dynamic item to the Text group text, and then click on the added Timer item in the Text group text to configure the timer. 4. Under Type, choose either Stream uptime, Viewer uptime or Chat command. 5. For count up/down timers, choose Chat command, then choose for who to listen for (default is "broadcasters") and the message pattern (default is !timer). Controlling count up/down timers with chat commands You can control the chat command timers using keywords. For example, if your message pattern is !timer, you can use the following commands: * !timer or !timer start to start a timer counting up from 0. * !timer 5m to start a timer counting down from 5 minutes. * Other time formats are supported to, for example: 90s for 90 seconds, 3h for 3 hours and even 1d for 1 day or 24 hours. * !timer pause to pause a timer. * !timer resume to resume a timer. * !timer stop to stop a timer and reset it to 0. šŸ’” To control multiple timers, use a unique message pattern for each timer. šŸ’” Test timers in the builder by dispatching Twitch Chat events while in Stream preview mode. Why can't I hear sounds or alerts?
In accordance with Twitch Policy, the Overlay Expert Twitch Extensions starts muted. To be able to hear sounds and alerts, the viewer must always unmute the overlay by tapping the Overlay Expert icon on the left and then tapping the volume icon.

Why can't I or my viewers see my overlay over my stream?
If you or your viewers cannot see your overlay over you stream, try the following: 1.
