Yet another Dedicated Server question...
So, after deleting/re-creating my VM 3 times, it just happened to work one time. Did nothing different, followed the basic setup instructions and it worked.
Glad it's on, but nothing more frustrating than not finding a solution to the problem after spending time going in circles.
