Organizations API doesn't provide full functionality
@Oli - Kinde - Any update on this API change? It was apparently added to the current software cycle back in late May.

Gravatar images empty
You can see [email protected] has no image displayed. There is in fact an image there, it's just blank (transparent PNG maybe? I haven't researched). When looking at the URL of that image, its similar to the one I mentioned above

@Oli - Kinde, no it does not unfortunately.
Most of my issues root from the fact that I have multiple organizations and users that want to access more than 1. The fact of the matter is, the user doesn't KNOW they are multiple organizations. They see a familiar login page from a brand they know and expect to use the login information they've already established.
We're forced to use multiple organizations because we want the title displayed on the login page to match that campaign that is being run by the brand / business. This necessitates different organizations.
What I was suggesting in my original question of dynamically change the displayed organization name would be to satisfy the following scenario:
* Using only a single organization for a brand so we don't encounter the "You don't have access to this organization" error
* Dynamically changing the login screen's displayed organization name based on the campaign the user is trying to interact with. In short, my suggestion was to have a single organization, but be able to brand that organization dynamically. To give you a very rudimentary and likely technically incorrect example, when users attempt to login, they might go to a URL like this: https://auth.voterfly.com/auth/cx/_:nav&m:register&psid:14f5aa75490e4b278e03380c49730277?DisplayedTitle=A%20Very%20Cool%20Campaign
I realize this isn't how we'd actually accomplish it and it begs the question if you could customize the title, shouldn't you also be able to customize the logo, and the colors, and. and. and....
Basically the overarching points is: Multiple organizations are creating issues for me both within a client that has multiple campaigns and even across client organizations as well (albeit less frequently) because some of my clients are geographically near each other so we get users interacting with these different campaigns across clients and they try to log in and get the error. This suggestion was an attempt to reduce the need for orgs.

@Oli - Kinde, most often our clients have a single campaign so this isn't an issue, but we've had an uptick in clients wanting to run multiple separate campaigns. As of right now, that means they're separate organizations.

@Oli - Kinde , my mistake. I accidentally said username / password. I've corrected my original inquiry - I mean email / password.
To answer your questions:
1) I'm not sure if they have a gravatar profile, but based on the fact that I'm seeing no images, I'm guessing not. Here is a concrete example of a URL (https://gravatar.com/avatar/ecd21a05fda223577d25f592e54d2d1ebcd928ebe0ccfb552f1627bb4e1753dd?d=blank&size=200)
2) I also couldn't tell you because I don't keep a historical record of what their photo was. The way our system works is we take whatever photo URL comes to us at login time. This means if a user has 1 email / password "account" but has logged in to that account via Facebook, Email / Password and Gmail, all with different photos, we update their account photo within our system using whatever the latest photo is given the method they signed in. As I mentioned, we don't track the photo for each method, just a single photo using the latest information available.

picture / ext_provider claim inconsistent
@Andre @ Kinde, good to hear from you. I'm not quite sure if that would solve my problem. My issue isn't that I don't have a
picture claim always available to me - I do, my issue is that depending upon the login provider (Google, Facebook, etc.) that value is sometimes a URL (GREAT!), which is very straight forward and easy to use, but sometimes its JSON with a URL embedded in there.
Now, if I'm reading between the lines, are you saying that after you implement gravatar, Kinde is going to inspect that JSON content from Facebook, pull that URL out of the JSON and somehow store that to where I know I'll always get a URL and not JSON?
That's my current problem JSON vs a URL. Ideally I want a URL 100% of the time. If I can't have that, then I need to at least be able to know if the content coming back is from Facebook so I know that I need to not only expect that it is JSON but also know the JSON structure so I can pull the correct property and get the URL from it.
I'm not sure how Gravatar will fix this, but perhaps I'm not understanding something.5 replies

The only other thing with the Organizations API that I feel is missing is the ability to set the logo via the API (post data? Provide a URL to a logo? etc.). This is functionality Kinde doesn't have that Auth0 did. I've had to remove brand logos from my sign in experience because of that.
It's not the end of the world, but it was a step back in that one particular area.

@Oli - Kinde, thanks for the response. You can register at https://rgbr.stylerca.com and then attempt to log to https://fedh.stylerca.com using the account you just created at the first link.
Regarding adding the homepage link, I would love to but the API doesn't support it. I logged this issue with the team already. I need to be able to set this information via the API, not manually, because we have many organizations. We expect to get into the hundreds+ in the next year or two.
For the time being, I will manually update these couple of organizations that are actively in the midst of their campaign, but longer term this needs to be able to be accomplished via the API.

I'd also like to mention that there is a secondary issue here: Once a user attempts to log in, but gets the 'Sorry, you do not have access to this organization" message, they are quite literally stuck.
* There are no links to perform a different action or return to the originating site
* The user really only have 3 options: 1) use the back button 2) close the window or 3) type in a new URL in the address bar. If you use the back button, (which is the only reasonable option out of those 3) you're presented with the login screen again. Attempting any other action on that screen then leads you to the 2nd message "The requested action could only be executed once". I understand WHY this is showing up, but the user experience in this particular case is very poor. Hopefully the team is working on this part since this is user facing.
My client is undoubtedly going to be looking to me for solutions to this problem in the next day or two as more of this pops up. Don't get me wrong, generally speaking I'm happy with Kinde, but these user facing things do provide some (at times) significant friction.
I'm sure the team can come up with some ideas on how to allow the user to get out of this "hole" they can fall into, or, as mentioned above, auto-register them in the case that the organization allows registration.

@Oli - Kinde - We launched with Kinde on Monday of last week. Generally speaking, so far so good. That said, as suspected we already have users having issues with what I mentioned above. Here is some direct feedback / confusion from a user because of this. In this email, "Region" = Organization in Kinde.
