flickering on rad 2 modpack

as soon as I loaded the mod both server and client side the player models and some blocks started to flicker, I tried to look online but anything I find is talking about options that I'm not able to find, I'm guessing this version is quite old

Huh, first time seeing that. Let's start with the basics. Does it happen when Distant Horizons is installed alongside the mod pack?

yes it happened only once I installed it

Check if your mods listed in #faq-mod-support under the incompatible mods section. If yours are not listed, proceed with the Thanos Method.

what kind of mods would cause this behavior? meaning goodbye DH? lol

Well, I have no idea.

Try a binary search and figure out which mod is causing it. So disable half of the mods, see if issue is still there, if yes disable half again etc etc until you find the mod that's causing the issue.

checked the list, non of those are present in rad2 also I belive it's only entities

that's funny because dh should not be messing with regular vanilla rendering

RecksiderOP•20h ago
there's also no shaders or anything default texture pack as well it's DH 💀

Well, we all know adding Distant Horizons causes the flickering. What we want to know is what mods when removed, causes the flickering to go away, without removing Distant Horizons. With that said, what Minecraft version you're on? If you find this process a bit difficult to follow, I'm available for doing the binary search on your behalf.

it's a modpack, rad 2 1.16.5 it's not difficult, it's just going to be too long I believe due to the amount of mods (294) roguelike adventures and dungeons 2

Should take around 9 iterations to get through all those mods via binary search, barring checking for library mods.

how should I go about this?

1. Separate your mods into 2 halves,. First half will be the mods you keep, while the second half will be the mods you'll move out from the mods folder. You can also create a folder inside the mods folder to store these mods. It will not be picked up by the game. Make sure to not move out Distant Horizons as well. 2. Once moved, launch the game. To make sure it doesn't harm your current world, test it in a new world. Place down all the affected blocks and see if the flickering happens or not. 3. If flickering happens, exit game, then start splitting the current list into half. Put them into a new, separate folder. Avoid mixing them with the first group of mods. Also keep in mind not to move out Distant Horizons. 4. If flickering doesn't happen. Place all the current mods into a separate folder while keeping Distant Horizons, then move back the first group of mods that we separated previously. 5. Repeat step 3 and 4 until you are down to 1 or 2 mods excluding Distant Horizons that, when paired together, causes the flickering.

Today I learned how Prism Launcher installs modpack from CurseForge. Turns out the error message is just stating that listed mods are not part of the downloaded pack, so it needs to download them separately.
Ramelstag
Ramelstag•19h ago
they are part of the pack, but the authors of those mods didn't allow their mods to be downloaded by 3rd party tools, which includes prism
hardester
hardester•19h ago
Well I'm downloading it through Prism alright.

With that said, we'll be here for a while as I wait for all the mods to finish download. (I have slow internet)

why not use curseforge? is ther any advantage to prism?

it's quite different

I'm familiar enough with Prism as I've been using it for a while now. If it ain't broke, don't fix. Fat fingered.
