Are my settings right for preexisting chunks only?
I don't think it should be more than 1 vanilla chunk passed the North/South sides (left/right), based on the map size and my Chunky gen radius from the middle

Just want to 100% make sure before it gets too far
Maybe it is working :D

NOPE

Went 1 chunk further North now
I'm stopping the gen till this is resolved somehow
I can't have this world get any bigger...
Where the frick am I uploading a 1.03TB world as is lol
This will make it 2-2.5TB ish probably
+ the land beyond the ocean will ruin all the views
Well you disabled most of the compression so the file will be huge
The performance improvement from changing the compression it super small, so I would advice to enable the better lossy and lossless compresion back and start again
What was your Chunky radius?
5750
As I need 184,000 blocks divided by 2
East/West
I only need 39K North and South radius
Chunky counts in blocks so chunky radius of 5750 is only 359 chunks
oops
I thought you said DH
I'll find the exact Chunky radius
So you want 5750 DH RD and have done 92 000 Chunky radius?
That should take months to generate if it isn't a premade map
It's a premap map
I've already did the 184,somethingsomethingsomething by 78,somethingsomethingsomething blocks with Chunky,
Found it
92420 (X) 39067 (Z) center
My region folder hasn't increased in size... just tested it after 20 minutes...
So you did
/chunky radius 184000
?No, I did /chunky radius 92420 39067
This seems correct
I doubled checked this three times
Including after 2 days
I was like "Wait, am I for sure I did the X and Z right?" I did
And the premade map only goes that far?
Nothing beyond that was present inside the map?
As the map is premade, terrain beyond Chunky radius might still exist, and if that is the case, pre-existing chunks will try to load it, especially if
Assume Pre-Existing Chunks Are Finished
is enabledThe premade map should have been at the end of the ocean (aka no vanilla chunks), as yes, premade map, but it was generated using a program, so no extra chunks should have been loaded...
Chunky should have maybe added a single chunk to that around the very border (because it might stop halfway through a chunk, for exmaple
But I don't think it should have added like, ~1000+ blocks worth
Also iirc Pulling lighting from existing vanilla chunks was for some reason slower then redoing the lighting
Unless the map was smaller than the program said it was:

184840 x 78135
IDK then, I don't think you are the first one to report Pre-Existing only not working, so you might need to wait for a dev response here
Though James is at 3 month DH free vacation
Oh, oops, no Distant generation option turned on
I'm checking again now
So for now the best you can do is generate 184840 x 184840 square with Chunky and replace the terrain after ocean with water using some other program
Was about to ask, what should I use to replace?
or prune the chunks
The map has a custom 2000 height datapack
Actually, it's 1600, but it can go up to 2000 if needed, PR only goes up to 1388m
I assume it'll work with whatever? since I'm just delete the edge chunks North/South and not modifying it to need to export it?
IDK

TBH, I still have 16.7TB free. The DH file is only 52GB compared to the 1TB region file folder
And setting pull lightning to false works with worldpainter maps?
and it'll just resume from where it's at/not start over?
Yeah it should resume
Instead of accessing the existing light data from regions files, it redoes the lighting based on the blocks in the chunks
It should be faster, but last time someone compared it I think it turned out to be slower + it can be incompatible with some mods
I guess I'll go back to my first idea... to set my radius to 2450 (about 40K blocks), let it finish generating the square in the middle, then tp east 2450 chunks away from the east border, let it finish, and do the same thing on the west side
180 hours ETA to finish middle
Still kinda sucks, I should just restart the DH gen
I trusted you, load preexisting chunks only :PepeHands:
Cuz that land in the distance isn't going to look good in screenshots
