Furuno Class A AIS through Actisense Gateway
A Saillogger user is using a Raspberry Pi with an Actisense Gateway. Everything on N2k shows up with the exception of AIS targets coming from Furuno Class A receiver. We know the receiver works as they can see AIS targets on their Chartplotter without any issues.
I am attaching their N2k configuration. Any suggestions?

no targets in SK though? DataBrwoser... and then the vessel popup
No targets in DataBrowser
What is vessel popup?

Yep he only sees Self there
I wonder how the Actisense is configured
wait, no, it should not matter
When he plugs that Actisense to a different computer, AIS works.
I can ask him to collect debug logs. What would help?
a different computer running Signal K? And targets show there?
No, not Signal K
He has something else he is using as Chartplotter
Does Actisense require any configuration? Or does a class A receiver matter for any reason
Class A should not matter
And config should not matter, I set the NTG-1 to receive all PGNs
Ugh
AI Overview

Furuno uses specific Program Group Numbers (PGNs) within the NMEA 2000 network for its AIS (Automatic Identification System) devices. While the specific PGNs may vary depending on the specific Furuno AIS model, they generally utilize PGNs associated with AIS information like position reports, and vessel data. For example, PGN 127331 might be used for AIS Vessel data, while PGN 126931 might be used for AIS Static and Voyage Related Information.
Are 127331 and 126931 standard PGNs that SK supports?
nope, not even supported by canboat
why in the world would they not use the standard pgns?
I am not sure, this is an AI overview, might be hallucination 🙂
Trying to find the manuals
https://www.furuno.com/files/Manual/318/upload/OME36870B1_FR10_12.pdf
No AIS messages listed in the "Output PGN"
but they are probably not listing the proprietry stuff
and that is a Radar?
Might want to bring this up in #radar , those guys know a lot about these devices
What model is that AIS unit? Class A devices are transpoders.

I asked a few more questions to him, will keep you posted
Typically class A AIS devices are using tagged nmea0183 over COM (61162-1/2) or ETH (61162-450) not N2K net or pgns.
