Can't figure out why this noise exists...
Hey gang!
For the life of me, I can't figure out where this horrid noise is coming from, this is just on the Y movement, during IS graph generation, but also appears during printing. Can someone point in in the direction this might be coming from? I've taken the hotend fan off because I thought it might have been resonance with the fan, but it still exists. Recently installed the RR 3.1 tool head upgrade, but the previous EVA also made the same noise.

Sounds like it may be y-axis carriages
@TheTik - out of line? should i redo the gantry alignment ?
bearings could be bad in it. It'd take a lot of diassembly, but I'd try to isolate those bearings and see if they make sound in movement
Alternatively, put your hand on the carriages and see how they feel while moving
a tad stiff, and they sound a little crunchy
but i'm thinking if i take the tension off, or realign the gantry, they may be smoother?
unlikely, try greasing them
i greased them about a month or so ago
they're slightly smoother in the middle of the rail, slightly less so towards the top and bottom of the rail
@TheTik - i cleaned the x and y rails, re-greased them and it's still doing it 😦
i do want to note that this is on performance mode also, so 1.6 on the motors
as you should. the lesser is training wheels, just to make sure the motion is working correctly. Less power to damage things if you have something wrong
shall i turn off perf mode for now then and see what is what?
no
the motion is great, everything is lined up - it's just this noise during certain movements
your motion is fine, its just finding what is making noise
I'd disassemble and narrow it down, if you can't use your ears to see where it is louder
it does it on both the X and Y movements during IS, it sounds like it's coming from the hotend assembly
Tension is pretty wild lol

being past 4 on PSD seems a tad, over
