Brand Spotlight: Birkenstocks - Topic of the day 4/12/25
Your favorite crunchy brand’s favorite crunch brand. Birks! They are affordable and comfortable. And super ubiquitous. Named after US states, their Arizona and Boston lines are seen on people all genders and all ages. Are they worth their reputation? Or do you have any alternatives?

named after us states Boston🤔
I really love birks
EVA arizonas are way OP for the price
I am loyal to my home country of Boston
I need to get mine resoled
I have arizonas for my backyard shoes and bostons are my going out birks, i love both, no complaints tbh. They last pretty long too
I’ve had my arizonas for probably around 3-4 years now and i’m only just now getting some cracks in the cork
Corks are doing fine in mine, but the rubber is pretty worn down after one summer unfort
anyone have their 1774 stuff? I like the milano but i dunno about $500 liking it
Mine always get cracks after like a year. I think its just not meant to be.
So I need to look for other sandal options this summer
I got a pair of Arizonas but it's got barely enough space (length) at the toes but too much at the heel, weird.
Are your feet wide?
No I have narrow feet
I love my Arizonas for summer and want to get some Bostons but keep putting it off. The soles are amazing for my high arch feet
I have low arch feet and the higher cushion version are great on my feet too
If I understand the situation correctly, you could probably try tightening the top strap a bit, then it would have to sit a little more towards the front of your foot which should make your foot sit a little further back in the shoe overall. I think.
The ridges at the toe box limit where the feet sit, so it's impossible to change that unless you don't mind the ridges digging into your toes.
I own and like Birkenstocks, but I do want to say the thickness and quality of the leather has gone WAY down in recent years. My newer Bostons feel super flimsy...definitely a victim of mass-market production, some dude with and MBA trying to max out on the value chain.
I've been thinking about buying a pair for this summer, I'll be in japan for 2 weeks and I need comfy shoes. Would you still recommend them?
