Especially shirts with that type of collar
could check out vivian westwood
I will
Looks like it will cost a kidney
oh in the womens section theres some stuff
but all way to expensive anyways idek why I am even checking
because you think it looks cool, that's as good a reason as any
prince got most of (all of?) his clothing custom made in minneapolis, but there's a lot of edwardian influences
the only stuff I liked so far was womens clothing. but I can never find a picture of a man wearing it so I have no idea if it would even look decent
the way to know for sure is to try stuff on, or else to find places online with good return policies, but the listed gender isn't a high barrier here
This is me in some women’s sweaters

Nothing crazy happened to me
Most clothes just fit like clothes
yeah thats not the problem
but I am not ordering something for 300 euros
and then it doesnt fit
I am generally not ordering anything for 300 euros lmao
Do you know your measurements
i mean what budget
Chest/shoulder/arm etc
I mean I can probably take them lol but not rn
for a single shirt max like 200 and that would have to be like perfect
the thing about cool clothes like this is because they aren't widely made for men you're gonna have to pick how you want to suffer - the cost of the clothes, the time spent searching for cheaper versions, or the relative quality of them (how long they last, how closely they resemble the inspired look)
You should probably do that first- it’s gonna help you get an idea of how/if stuff will fit you
yeah makes sence. But the cost thing is just impossible for me. I live in a city where the thrift stiores literally only sell used luis vuitton and shit. everything here costs a kidney
ok will do tomorrow
search online for poet shirts; etsy might be your best bet
vinted and shop women's section tbh
but also get your measurements like adapt said; more than likely you'll be shopping online and knowing them will save headaches with returns
vestiaire as well
yeah I will get them tomorrow I guess. I also dont like buying clothes online idk. But its the only option it seems
I mean if there was like a expensive one I would know I like it I would put time into hunting it down online I guess
again - expensive clothes in person, a long time spent looking for inexpensive clothes in person, or online clothes which may not be your ideal preference
pick the one that sucks the least
yeah definitely online clothes
but even online I cant find shit lol
that gets better over time and you can lean on the community aspect, here and elsewhere
if you come up with ideas of pieces and outfits that you like, you can always make a QnA thread and ask for help/feedback
pinterest and IG are also powerful tools as is the inspiration thread here, or you can ask on WAYWT posts for info on pieces you like
subs kinda dead but as a resource, /r/malefashion is home to a lot of alt fashion that might perk what you like, and you should follow the brands people have mentioned and the suggested accounts related to them
Some brands that I’m gonna name: a lot of these are quite expensive retail but can be found for cheap sometimes secondhand: Zimmerman, Simone Rocha, JW Anderson, Sacai, Comme des Garçons (especially sublabels)
https://www.zimmermann.com/en-eu/ready-to-wear/clothing/tops/crush-heart-trim-blouse-ivory.html
Something like this would probably go hard with just a slim white shirt underneath. but wtf is that price
All of these do stuff in this kind of space
Zimmerman secondary market is pretty cheap
Fwiw, prince was like 5 feet tall and 100 pounds soaking wet so he probably is wearing women’s stuff honestly, or just got shit custom made later on in his career
All custom I think
Zeo discussed earlier
Ah that tracks
also what about the jacket? any brands I should look for that might have something similar
yeah. I am reasonably lean but idk if male shoulders fit into blouses well
you just gotta size up
This is why you should take your shoulder measurements asap
it’s like fine whatever
I am pressuring op to get Simone Rocha
Because that is in fact a pretty big limiter sometimes
But for me (tiny shoulders) it’s not an issue
For jacket I feel like secondhand vaquera could be worth looking into
And vaquera is unisex sizing afaik
I have big shoulders for a woman but with a big ruffled poet blouse i doubt it’s a major issue
saw a kinda nice one
true
It honestly looks like ren faire suppliers on Etsy have a good grip on the shirt style in men's sizing https://www.etsy.com/listing/1076866963/linen-pirate-shirt-poet-blouse-prince
https://www.etsy.com/listing/1808598880/reworked-vintage-black-with-silver there are also up cycling sellers who crop vintage men's blazers and do this kind of thing
Isn’t Etsy like 90% drop shippers
Vintage and ren faire adjacent stuff is usually not
This ships from Ukraine which means it's actually legit
Ukrainian brands have a large Etsy presence
Just to piggyback on this, Ukraine has a bizarrely large online presence on eBay when it comes to the style of clothes I wear (trad/prep/ivy.) I don't understand why but I've seen multiple items for very reasonable prices but I was always worried it was a scam.
I finally ordered a couple of shirts from Ukrainian sellers, turns out they were legit. Great price, items were in fantastic condition and in a size that's hard for me to find, only issue was shipping was slightly slow until the item left the country then it got here quickly.
And to be fair, that's completely understandable. I'm not going to bitch about slow shipping when I'm getting vintage menswear from a country that's actively being invaded.
Regarding the clothes, do you have any skill in sewing or do you know anyone in your city that makes custom garments? It's often cheaper than you think to have custom work done.
I use Luxire and Propercloth all the time to have items made for me. I just copy measurements from some of the more expensive pieces that I own and have them duplicate the cut but with different fabrics. Works out great for me, I save money and by tweaking the measurements I get something that fits better than what I would get off the rack.
Hmm a friend of my grandmother is really good at sewing lol
but then I would need to provide her with a design
which I cant. Because I am not that creative and I couldnt like sketch out the stuff I imagine either
I don't think Proper Cloth is altering their patterns enough for blouses like Prince's
Luxire maybe but it's probably not cost effective for someone in college and Luxire is known for pretty bad advertising practices
I was mainly using Luxire and PC as examples of custom work being more accessible than many people often think. I've seen multiple examples of people sending Luxire special requests for garment designs and having them make them, admittedly a jacket like Prince is wearing may be outside of their capabilities.
I was unaware of any issues with Luxire and advertising,I've been using them for a few years now and haven't had any issues, I haven't any negative discussion about their advertising on the Styleforum thread either, but I may have missed it. What have they done? If it's something bad I'd rather know about it so I can send my business elsewhere.
There's a thread on Reddit that's a few years old but it had some good recommendations, I checked out one of the Etsy shops that was mentioned and it's still in business and apparently makes shirts very similar to what you're looking for and for a decent price. The woman who runs it seems to be very open to custom work and asks people to send her different designs to try, maybe check it out.

Looking at the conversion rate it may be slightly above your budget but it's worth a look at the thread for the other shops
They didn't like a review by Permanent Style and threatened legal action and their reddit account astroturfs their stuff. I think they've literally been banned from this server, though before my time
But yeah, Vinted is a better bet for their location and budget
I mean the nicest would be like a local sewer. But that bascially doesnt exist anymore in europe or costs 3 kidneys.... I mean tbf probably always was expensive but like 80 years ago there just werent many other options I guess lol. Will check the etsy shop tho
I mean that thing is nice but 350 euros lol
