DH seemingly working on my server according to f3 but I dont see anything
Trying to re-setup my server for 1.21.5, reinstalled the mods I had before to recent versions. I am using the nightly 1.21.5 DH version from this server and it seems to be working on a solo world just fine.
In the server, I have tried using /dh pregen and it says it is an unknown or incomplete command. Any ideas?

This might be something dead simple that I've just missed, I had DH working on this server before back in 1.21.1 or something, DH version 2.0.x. I can't remember exactly
i think i got it, didnt realise that /dh pregen required more information to start working
Okay, pregen is running from an origin around where my character is. Should I only see these load in once the pregen has finished? Not seeing it yet

checked again, tried reinstalling the clientside DH and disabling every mod other than DH and fabric, still worked in a solo world but im not seeing any of the LODs when i connect to my server. the server and client are both running off of the same machine, in case that matters. heading to bed now so hopefully some helpful soul has given some suggestions by morn' ❤️

Did you type the pregen command into the console or in-game?
If in game, it's probably working but needs more time. Try increasing the cpu load on the server with the /dh config common.threadpreset command (which you also need to complete)
Pregen was done in-game, also added the cpu load on the server. I have left it running overnight to pregen stuff and it still isnt showing clientside
pregen is still going i should say - could it just be that its not finished yet so it isnt showing?
Was the client connected the whole time?
No it should also show new chunks while it's still active
Does a client have to be connected to generate Lods? Someone told me that /dh pregen will generate the lods(without the client) so I'm kinda confused rn
No a client doesn't have to be connected, but if the client is connected the whole time, the server has had more time to send LODs to the client
Ok
Thx for the info
Remember that distant generation has to be enabled on both the server and client in order for LODs to appear on the client when using DH on a server.
the client has been disconnected most of the time
distant generation is on for both as far as i can tell, settings on client and server are all the default settings except for cpu load which ive increased
saying that, i cant tell for the server by this screen?

wrong screenshot
this one

im really not sure whats happening as things seem to be happening on the server side, and on a singleplayer world DH is working. is there something causing the server and client to not communicate maybe?
You cannot change the server settings from your client settings screen
Information about whether it is working can be seen in the F3 debug screen
Please send a screenshot of it
I shall do when I get home!

If you need anything else just let me know
I would need that same screenshot at a higher resolution or lower GUI scale. A lot of the information is missing from the bottom of the right side
From this image we can see that the server and client have agreed that DH is working, but not if they have exchanged any LODs
sure
gimme a sec
so this time i logged in and had an error, could this be it? i had some text messages before which i should have stated but not the error message

Huh, yeah it looks like DH is mostly disabled here. I thought the GL errors were fixed already. When did you download this version? If it was at least a few days ago, can you try downloading the latest nightly again and testing with that?
downloaded it last night from https://discord.com/channels/881614130614767666/882038774861819954/1302316023780999238
like 9 or 10 BST or something
i can retry anyway, should i change client and server?
will the LODs ive rendered be kept if i reinstall the mod for the server? the sqlite file is now 81g so i'd like to keep that if i can 🥴
same error after reinstalling client side. will try server now
same error after reinstalling both client and server!

You should send your
latest.log
file to provide additional useful information.
Logs are usually located in the .minecraft/logs
directory.
On Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\logs
On Linux: ~/.minecraft/logs
On Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/logs
Please upload the file to mclo.gs instead of sending the raw file. This makes reading the contents of the file a lot easier and improves the chances of you getting the help needed.
After uploading the file, click on Save
and send the link.Thanks. There are actually 2 errors in here: The GL error, and something to do with save data in relation to DH.
I guess this is one for @James Seibel GMT-5
maybe something caused by not clearing out all DH related files before updating to 2.3? last time i ran this it was on 2.0 iirc.
Maybe. You could try just deleting or moving the old data
it lives!

@Sarco those GL errors were fixed in the latest nightly build and RC1 ( #announcements )
If you see black fog again, relog or change dimensions slowly (IE walk into a nether portal).
i just cleared out the server data folder and it worked upon booting up again
Thank you guys for the help. Good to just clear out old info i guess 😛 i didnt even know there was DH data stored there or else i would have tried that earlier. ill mark this as solved!
