Poor Server Performance
Hey guys,
Just wanna ask, is it normal for connecting clients to have a bad framerate only when the mod is installed on the server?
mod on client is fine, mod on client + server = bad frames.
I've already upgraded the server to 7gb ram, but the problem persists, will upgrading it more fix the issue? I just dont want to spend money again if thats not the case.
Running a Fabric server on 1.21.1, hosted on Gportal.
Thanks for any help!

The only reasons I can think of that result in dh having worse performance are one, your cpu is somehow being choked in network requests, unlikely. Your cpu is choked in update requests, plausable. Or, having those extra chunks filled up your ram, impossible if it's repeatable.
Can you try reducing the cpu load on the client in dh's settings?
that does seem to help, but I noticed halfing the clients Rate Limit for Sync on Load to 25, under the server section seems to also help a lot
thanks!
do you think I should upgrade the ram anyways? or is 7 enough
7 is cutting it close, but you also shouldn't unnecessarily spend extra money
You can always reduce the RAM usage with some performance mods if you are not using them already but IDK how big of an effect they have server side and how much they are client side
Mods that promise reduced RAM usage include:
- Feritecore
- ModernFix (with dynamic resources turned on in the config file!)
- Krypton
And another good server side performance mod is:
- Lithium
is the server local hosted? or on some platform? because I am experiencing a similar issue. I local host the server and then my friends play. so all the lod generation is forced on my pc causing my frames to suffer so they can load stuff faster. Im looking for a way to make them render their own lod's and server to jus provide updates on existing chunks.
gportal
cool, thanks!
