Should I shorten my belt or make another hole in it?

Hey everyone, I have a belt that doesn't really fasten my pants enough (if that's how you say it in English), it stops exactly at the second belt loop (the one that's at the left side of the pants). I don't know if it's the wrong size because I read that I should aim for the middle hole when talking about belt sizes. Should I take it to a cobbler to shorten it or should I make more holes instead? Thanks in advance for the help

I just punch more holes into my belts (i recommend getting a hole puncher for that, they are like 15$ and useful for all kinds of stuff).

adding a hole will be easiest; if it's leather, shortening a belt can be trickier than it sounds depending on how the edges are finished and also on the material

i took mine to a cobbler and he did a new hole for me for free in seconds shortening sounds like an unnecessary hustle

I've bought long belts on purpose
