is this a bad fitting blazer?
i randomly came across this video of a guy talking about dressing well but my intuition is that his blazer fits him poorly.
i don’t know enough about suits/blazers to know why but would love to learn more about why this looks weird to me (or if I am wrong)

Need a full body shot
But in any case the outfit is dogshit
quarter zip sucks with this tbh
Unnecessary + gaudy pocket square, ugly qzip under a blazer is just really really bad
This is not someone I would trust to give advice on dressing well
skimmed the video and couldn’t find a body shot - two things I was wondering was wearing a quarter zip under a blazer seems strange & how much the shoulders are bunching up on the blazer seems wrong, would love to know if it’s just this guy or if there are principles this outfit is violating that i could learn from
I mean a quarter zip under a blazer isn’t inherently bad, the brand Drake’s has done this very well in the past. But this specific type of textureless thin quarter zip just sucks in any context
the shoulder bunching could just be a natural consequence of him lifting his arms
The shoulder bunch could just be because he’s sitting down
yeah dw lol but i figured if he was making a video about dressing well it was fair game to scrutinise his fit on here (i wouldn’t screenshot a random stranger’s fit and bring it to a public forum if they weren’t explicitly talking about dressing well)
Yeah this shot isn’t really the best to gauge whether or not it fits his body but in all honesty it’s kind of a moot point because even if it fits perfectly it’s still a terrible outfit
Absolutely
But you kind of need to see someone standing up with their arms at their side to evaluate how well a blazer fits
on a related note: I am trying to learn what my intuitive/aesthetic preferences are but i don’t yet have the language for it - here are two suits from two different “how a suit should fit videos” (the armoury & GQ)
I strongly prefer the one with the yellow tie over the other one but i couldn’t describe why if pushed to describe it, is there obvious distinctions I could look for when buying a suit based on this preference?

Ngl the one on the left looks too small for the dude but that could just be how he’s standing
He’s got some shoulder puckering and there’s something weird going on down the sides of his torso
@beans tell me if I’m wrong
I might have taken a bad screenshot, here’s the video: https://youtu.be/z_acMbzNfoQ?feature=shared

The Armoury's Guide to How A Suit Should Fit
Our guide to what we look for when fitting a suit. This is a refresh of a video we shot over ten years ago! Great tailoring is timeless and despite this long period, the fundamentals of a good fit remain the same.

But I might just like the yellow tie too ngl
I would think that you could achieve that look with just a slimmer cut suit rather than a regular/traditional fit though
Apart from the slimness of the fit the main difference I see is that the one with the yellow tie has “open quarters” (the area below the button spreads out) rather than “closed quarters”. I think it makes it look a little more pinched at the waist.
As far as I know that is just a personal preference.
I think the one on the right looks a bit longer and has a lower buttoning point, but could also be that the image is just bigger? The lapels definitely sweep in a way the one on the left doesn’t.
And it has only one button? Didn’t know that was a thing
he mentioned this in the video, said it was personal preference & he likes it more than 2
worth noting armoury suits run small in general, and knowing of mark cho i wager the slim fit in 1 is a personal preference
gonna take a stab and say 1 has either no shoulder padding or very minimal shoulder padding, whereas 2 is probably padded to some extent. might also be uncanvassed (no extra layer between the lining and outer fabric) or half canvassed
I can’t speak for this particular fit but I’ve come across that YouTuber and don’t think much of them. Too grifty and prescriptive while trying to sell the stuff. I’d ignore
thank you! this is insightful
that said there's multiple ways in which a suit can fit (British vs Italian vs American tailoring all have their own nuances and plenty of people advocate for their preference) it's worth looking through #waywt or #inspiration to see what all is out there because it can inform other ways a suit can fit

tyyyy
I think wrong beans lol
The left one is a bit slim but I think a lot to do with how he’s standing. There are other differences tho: open quarters, 3-roll-2, different sleeve attachment. I’m mostly drawn to the quarters being different personally
