DH pregen functionality
Hi y'all, i'm running DH2.3 on my fabric server. I'm wondering how the pregen command functions. If not set to INTERNAL_SERVER it only generates LODs, but these will only be generated for already generated chunks, correct?
Thanks in advance!

no itll also generate LODs for chunks that havent been visited yet
if you dont want that, you can set generation mode to pre-existing chunks only
Ohh great thank you!
Maybe we can add a new command/faq entry for this question as this is I think the third time I see this asked
Something like:
The pregen command will generate LODs (and vanilla chunks) according to the distant generation setting set on the server
There are 3 main generation settings:
- INTERNAL_SERVER -> Generates and saves both DH LODs and vanilla chunks, has 100% correct LODs, because of vanilla chunks it takes the most amount of drive space
- FEATURES -> Complete generation of all LODs with all structures and trees no matter if vanilla chunks were present or not. Does not save vanilla chunks, is much faster than INTERNAL, but the trees and structures placement can be not fully accurate
- PRE-EXISTING -> generates LODs only for all already existing vanilla chunks
i think its more that people dont know if the default, features, generates normal chunks or not
A command would still be nice, maybe with a bit less info, but it is still faster to type /pregen or /generator then explaining this every time
/gen
/generator
- FEATURES: Complete generation of all LODs with mostly correct structures and trees. Does not save vanilla chunks, and is much faster than INTERNAL_SERVER unless C2ME is installed.
- INTERNAL_SERVER: Generates and saves both DH LODs and vanilla chunks, has 100% correct LODs, because it also saves vanilla chunks it takes the most amount of drive space. Generation speed will suck unless C2ME is installed.
- PRE-EXISTING: generates LODs for all existing vanilla chunks.
like this?
Wait then what is surface???
No trees and no structures, marginally faster then features
Just read the tooltip
oh cool, since your here, I have C2ME installed, should I just use internal server or stick with features? I'm running them both right now just to see and it honestly seems like theyre about the same speed
If you need the normal chunks, internal. If not, features
define "need" 🤣
